I think it is was real bad when the warden said tuff luck.
That would have sent me into overdrive if it had been my dog.

I've always been in the frame of mind that a man covers his own ground, that warden would be better off paying me for my loss, than waiting to pay in some other way and it would be alot less costly for him in the long run. With any luck, he'll have to pay the dogs worth.
I hunt the "PURE" KEMMER MEAT DOGS.

there is so much more b/s involved that it is disgusting. these same two thugs used their authority and took a pet coon from a man last year because he didnt have a permit. he had that coon for 5 years and got a lawyer to try and get it back and it had been killed and they said it bit someone and had to be tested. Then you find out they are selling hides. People are in Frankfort now trying to get something done about these guys before someone gets in REAL serious trouble.THANKS to everbody for following this on the other site and your support is definately appreciated.

That some aweful stuff. It seems like those guys can easily give the good game wardens a bad name and hurt several people and pets along the way. I know a few wardens that are great guys and will be sick when they hear about this. Thanks for posting.

we have had some of the best wardens in the business and respect wardens. A good one is very valuable to everyone. Our main goal --outlaw conibear traps on dry land sets. that will eliminate dog-killing.These traps are set in a box---after the first coon pees all over it when caught--they get better and better at attracting dogs.I have no problem with trappers or any sports activity and dont want them to loose their rites. By the same token--i dont want trappers to take my hunting rites away. rite now---I am afraid to turn a dog loose for squirrel or coon.Hopefully---Frankfort will do something.....Thanks a lot for following this on prohound and your support in helping with this mess~~~~~~~Good hunting to everbody

My Bocephus dog got shot. I didn't try and ban guns. My Ruger dog got hit by a car and I didn't try and ban automobiles. If the trap was set legal then it was bad luck. That is part of hunting with dogs- the risk. I've set hundreds of 220 conibears on dry land and never caught a dog. Don't tread on my rights because of bad luck. If these boys were trapping illeagal that is a different story. Throw the book at them. JMO

i appreciate all the support on this incident and wanted to share an update............one of the wardens traps was abandoned /left/lost??? and caught a mans dog and he called the game warden. the game warden came out to the scene in the woods and the man beat him like a rented mule----got his dead dog and left the warden laying in the woods. the warden crawled to his truck and called for help---broke ribs and eyes beat shut and broke jaw. off duty for awhile---he didnt know the hunter and has no idea of who he was. the only thing he knows for sure is he got a genuine ol"timey man sized butt-beating !!!this happened about 6 weeks ago--cant think of any other reason the trap would have been there---with name tag still attached

Not sure if going to war with any State officer is the answer but in this case it looks like the old adage-- AN EYE FOR AN EYE and I'll bet this warden will not repeat those mistakes.
Hunting with my dogs come first but I also trap so see both sides and just use common sense and both trappers and dog men can enjoy their activity. In NY the larger conibears if set on dry land must be set in a box or pail with an opening that a dog can't get into. All my trapping is for Fisher but every once in a while a coon stumbles in. My concern is with all the pressure the Anties are putting on to outlaw leg hold traps the fox and coyote trappers will be allowed to use open conibears and/or snares and that will mean dead dogs for sure.

the box they use is about 10-12 inch sq. with notches for the spring on the trap. the whole front is open. AND when they get a dog---their attitude is---TOUGH LUCK...the hunters and trappers get along good here except these two -the hunters will give their coon to the trappers in most cases, when they kill one. everbody knows everbody here local and the threat of fed.employee is used as a shield. obviously the hunter is not from around here. we host a lot of competition hunts and people come back just to hunt and fish. I just wish this problem would stop now before someone gets seriously hurt.
