Our electric has been off since the 27th due to an ice storm. The electric Co-op is saying we may be shut down up to 4 weeks- I hope not. The tops of our trees are broken out for as far as you can drive. We had a really bad spring freeze here this past year and now our trees will be destroyed by ice. Will the tops being broken out destroy our mast crop or just lower it? Our squirrel population was relatively low to start with, what can we expect now? This is the worst ice storm I've ever seen in 59 years of living. Temperatures are expected to normalize this weekend so we'll get a good melt. Loyd.

Sorry to hear about all of the ice down there loyd. We had a lot of ice here in north Missouri a year ago December. It broke a lot of tops and big branches out of the trees here. We had several acorns and mast this last fall anyway. I quess it depends on how healthy the tree is to start with, but I'm sure that it will effect the amount of mast that will be produced. Being without electricity is not fun! We depend on it so much for everything these days. We will pray for the power companies to get the power on as quickly as possible! Take Care.

We're in the dark here also, most of the stores are out of kerosene, and no generators to be found in any store. Sure makes me look forward to spring.
I hunt the "PURE" KEMMER MEAT DOGS.
No byproducts!!!!

Loyd I was wondering if you got mixed up in that storm. More than likely Electric Co-ops from out of state will try to come in when they are able & help fix power lines to get you guys back on power. Problem this time is other states beside you have their own powerlines to fix too. This kind of mess takes a while to fix like they told you but I sure hope it goes faster than predicted. How are livestock handling the ice? Any cattle trapped in any hollars that you know of? I have heard of these kind of problems in those steep hills down there during other ice storms. Stay warm & safe &keep us posted. Farmboy-1

Our prayers go out to all of you in that mess.A man can do without water for a while or do without being able to travel up and down the roads but electricty is the thing you miss the most and is the hardest to do without.Try and keep the family warm.We dont have no generater but Laree said tell any of you that we do have a extra room here and we have our camp about 50 miles from here that has water and electricty and any of you are more than welcome to come stay if you need to./////////////Big Ronnie and Laree

Sorry to hear you fellas got hit so hard. Hope you get your lights back on soon and that you guys stay warm in the meantime.
We lucked up and just caught the tip of it here near Grassy Cove. You could literally watch the thermometer drop as the front was moving in. It fell from 38* with hard rain to mid 20's and ice/snow in a matter of minutes.

I appreciate your kind offer of using your camp. Is a good Kemmer tree dog included? lol. Loyd.

Our ice melted off today but the damage will take up to 5 weeks to repair. I'm buying a generator tomorrow to run the house on. It's not much but maybe those 3 deer in my freezer won't ruin. Loyd.

Loyd Just in case one of these dont tree the way you like for him to I have 18 of them here and you can load you up 10 or 12 of them and carry them on down to the camp with you and just try them out till you find the one that acts right for you.If you get tired of coon hunting Laree has a pickup truck load of beagles that will give you something to do while the coon dogs are sleeping. One of my buddy's here that works with me a lot left here today with his truck headed to Jonesboro Ark. He is hauling dozers and equipment up there in Ark for Entergy Electric company from place to place and Entergy told him they could use him for at least 4 to 5 weeks. That don't sound good to me.It must be a disaster all over up there..............Big Ronnie
