Just got home from the camp, worst wk. end in a while.I don't know what is with the coons,we hunted Fri. night and sat. night till 2 and 3 am and we haven't treed the first coon.Sat. night we hit a track and Chance,Jack and Super Sport ran that joker for at least 1 1/2 miles down the top of the river bank.Mr. coon tapped 3 different trees I guess cause when Chance would get on the tree and the pups would be smelling all up on and around the tree and there wasn't a coon no where to be found and then Chance would pick it back up and him and the pups would run it another long ways and he would tapp another tree. This went on most of the night and finely we had to catch the dogs,we had got to our property line on the south end with another hunting club and at the rate this coon was traveling we might have ran through the other hunting clubs camp before daylight. He didn't run like no coon I have ran before there.I was wondering if it was coon untill he tapped 3 trees trying to throw the dogs off and I'm still not sure.Oh well, theres good nights and bad nights.I told Laree that sat. night would be better.I was wrong about that too.We hunted all night sun. night and didn't find nothing and this kind of stuff just don't happen here very often........Big Ronnie

Sounds like a smart mtn. coon Ronnie.
Was the dogs sticking to the tree until you got to them? The reason I'm asking is we sometimes have problems with bobcats leaving the tree here in the mtns. when they spot your light coming towards them. This can make for a long night and some wore out dogs. After two or three times of this we would stumble into the tree in the dark and light it up to finish the race Machine Gun

Randy the dogs would be at the tree when we got there but it wouldn't be but a minute each time before they was on their way after him again.I told Laree that this coon wasn't acting right and you might be right about a bob cat,I hadn't thought about that........Big Ronnie
