Got a call the other night from a friend to go turn loose where some hogs had been working. It was kind of a short notice but I hurried up & loaded the dogs up & off I went.I had one of my dogs not to show back up with the others. He was the Bear pup that I had kept from a previous cross that was doing Soooooo good! He was around 13monthes old now,Makes me sick!!! Its mostly my own fault though because I didnt take the time to put a tracking collar on him before we turned loose.I put collars on ever dog but Bear & now wished I had of taken the time for him but it is to late for that now.The only thing that I can figure out is that a rattler or coyote got him.I stayed their for over an hour or so calling & even had the other dogs in the box barking for him but he never did show back up.I was in a very remote location with no houses or roads close by except for the one I came in on.I checked it all the way back out for his tracks & found nothing but coyote tracks.I have went back since then & checked & have waited on a phone call to his where-abouts but have not had any luck.I told my buddy the other night that I felt like somthing had to have gotten him for him not to have returned with the other dogs.I guess their is a slim chance that he may show back up I dont know.Three night have went by since then & I know that the odds are stacking up against me.I just wished I knew forsure what actually happend to him.I told my buddy that it looked like we would have heard him scream out if somthing had of gotten him.Anyway,I guess I just had to vent some of my fustration.I have always gotten by before in the past doing this but not this time around im a afraid. From now own I will not turn another dog loose unless they have a tracking collar on period.Anyway,I hope none of yall ever make the same dum mistake that I just made. |

I agree, don't give up on him yet. And you aren't the only one to have made this mistake and you won't be the last. I've done it once or twice and regretted it every time. Hang in there.

Hope you find him Baokell. I know that sick feeling when you have to come home without one not knowing what happened to them.... I've tried the leaving a jacket or shirt laying where you turned out trick and have drove up and found them laying on it when you pull up. |

Baokell I know the feeling you have and it's sure not a good one either. When you loose one and you know what happened to it thats pretty bad but when you loose one and don't know what happened to it that, that really can work on you. There still might be some hope yet though...........Big Ronnie |

Well I got some good news wed evening guys! A lady called & said my Bear dog was laying up in under her porch. Went to get him & when he saw me he ran up to me waging his rear end around with a drawed up back leg.He was skin-n-bones & had been hit by a car.I sure was glad to see him after being without him for almost 7 days & I know he was glad to see me.I was gonna say that luck was on my side this time but thats really not the case.Im gonna give all the credit to the Lord for hearing my prayer in finding him. Got up early this morning & took Bear over to a vet friend of mines house over in ga.to get him fixed up.He didnt have any pins at his house & his office was another 25mintutes from their. So,we wound up streching his leg out in this brace.I never have had one with a broke leg before & Im not real sure about this splint deal. I have got him in a place where he can stay cool & cant get the splint wet.The real problem is gonna be keeping it on him without him tearing it off.We put some no chew bandage material around the splint & so far it seems to be working ok.I would rather of had a pin in place but under the cicumstances of having to work tonight & the time frame we went with the splint option.Dr. said that he would have to wear the splint for over a month & then he should be fine.
