I went coon hunting last night with Luke in this mess. Timber struck and Juice took over and finished the track a good ways away. When we got there her feet were bleeding pretty bad and it looked like the ice had cut her feet up. Just wanted to remind y'all to be careful in this crap when it freezes over at night....very hard on the dogs feet. At least they got a coon to chew on...LOL

Do any of you have a good remedy for cut feet? I use purple spray....

Ben that's about as good as it gets. If they keep bleeding you can use cornstarch it does the same thing as stop bleed does just alot cheaper.>>>>>>>>>>Laree

Best thing I have found is Kerosene,or as the older crowd calls it"Coal Oil".Works every time with no burn.A foxhunter turned me on to this years ago and his dogs feet got tore up every Sat. nite.

Ben,when I run the pads off of one of my dogs , I use pine tar , It's used on horse hooves ,I take the top off and just stick there foot in it about a inch . It helps protect the foot by leaving a thin coat of tar . I've had good luck with it .

We have used bag balm on our coyote hounds for years they run hard on the ice and snow we put it on when we get home at night most are ready to go the next morning. some cases require laying them up for a couple days but not vary often.

For cut feet I use a mixture of 1/3 scarlett oil, 1/3 weak iodine and 1/3 glycerine. It works. I get the iodine and scarlet oil at Tractor Supply in the horse medicine section and the glycerine at wallmart drugstore.
