Preston Brannon found several new copies of the book and sent Carla & I one, thanks Preston. Great history of the Mtn. Cur where all our dogs came from. One point I found very interesting was that way back when the OMCA was started the breed standard listed three basic colors, black, brindle and YELLOW. Remember back when the Nay-sayer accused Robert of using a buckskin plott to put yellow into his dogs, here's proof that yellow was one of the original colors.
Back in the 60s or early 70s a good friend bought a reg. Mtn Cur, turned out to be a really good cooner, talked me into use that dog to get a litter of pups from my original Poky female, we had no idea what Pokeys lineage was but looking at the pictures in this book they sure look like Pokey plus her actions sure was like Mtn Cur. We had no idea what we had then and fooled that blood away. Foolish me.

I believe that Preston told me that however many copies he bought that was the last available. Since my post I've read more of this little book and enjoyed it.
I will be sure to have my copy at the spring hunt. Robert told me last evening that he once had a copy, guess it's been around quite awhile.

I am 60 years old-----can remember back to age 5--6 yo. we had curs in eastern ky and they were yellow and some was brindle and black and reddish. Some had white trim in chest and blaze face. some was stumptail and some had half or whole tail. Some had dew claws and some didnt.you could get all in same litter. the one thing in common in all was hunt---grit--and loyalty.pretty much what we got today in kemmer curs. SOOO.... who ever told that plott dog story shure ant too smart.
