I went down and hunted with Ronnie Wooten last night. He had a man call and say that the coons were eatin up his sweet feed and if he didn't kill them he was gonna start poisoning them so we were happy to oblige. Within about three and a half hours we made eight trees and had six coons in the truck. Dogs started out acting funny treeing then running and treeing again but we figured out why pretty quick. The next tree we came up on had two in it. They were running a sow and a bunch of kits. The kits were breaking off one by one and climbing a tree the dogs were treeing them and running the rest to. Once we got those two on the ground it was like clockwork dogs running and treeing and coons hitting the dirt. We had ole Slim Jim (the old man) with along with a two year old started pup, although if you see the pics and are in the woods with him you might say he is a little better than started, and my pup Rusty Red was there to. We treed hard as we could go till they started getting in the den trees about midnight and we decided to call it a night. Charles, the dog on the left is the two year old (Bo) that Ronnie was telling you about being for sale. He is out of Wootens Amos on the top side and making one heck of a dog. Yeah we had a big time. Its a lot of fun when its just one tree after another. I like to hear the dogs in them long races with old boars, but its fun when they tree every hundred yards to. Just as a little icing on the cake i shot out a possum that we found in a tree on the way to the dogs. I always like to shoot them nasty boogers out. |
