She was the last female brindle pup jason sold from that litter i think jason called her jewell, i wish i could take mine to the woods but we have well over 2 feet of snow here : will you start your pup on squirrels first or on coon ? i thought it might be better to hunt her on bushy tails first cause i have a treeing cur that is half kemmer half canadian cur and i started her on coon first and she never liked squirrels as well

Little Julie will go the woods this weekend and will be sq. hunted for the next week and then our sq. season closes the last day of feb. This means she will go the woods for some coon hunting the rest of the winter. I see where some people like to start them on sq. first but it don't make no difference here to us. If they hunt one they will hunt the other but some dogs like one better than the other............Big Ronnie |

How many pups were in this litter anyhow ? i guess i never really asked but i wonder how many went to small game hunters and how many went for hog and bear dogs ? i will test mine on bear once she gets a good coon season under her as there are many guys i can go with in west virginia and its only a few hours away.

Caleb- I never gave it much thought before but do they have an open bear season in Penn.? And while I think about it tell me about them porkupines. Do they live in holes in the ground? What do they eat? Do they hibernate in winter? Iv'e seen some awful pictures of dogs with quills stuck in their mouths from catching those those bad little critters. |

well they wont open a dog season in pa but in wv it is really popular, the porkypines are a real menace they eat tree bark kind of like a beaver and they kill many trees the pa game comm has outlawed killing them and i cant see why there is no shortage of them and they can really mess a dog up they live in holes in the winter but in the summer i think they just sleep where they want to as they fear nothing , i guess just be thankful if you never see one as porkys and dog folks dont coexist very well

Oh and tey dont hibernate ether but i wish they did !!! When a dog gets into them its pretty much a sure trip to the vet and the worst thing about it is they can get quills in a dogs lungs and eyes and can kill them luckily a tritronics will break them fairly easily if you get them at the right moment

I have already fixed a place on my wall to set Little Julie's 1st. place squirrel champion trophy. She is signed up for Mr. Bill Bradford's squirrel college in Oakdale for this summer along with Ole Blue. Little Julie sure don't mind letting these squirrels here at the houise know that she don't like them. I think she is going to be a chip off of the old Block. ...........Big Ronnie
