My wife and I just got through worming, spraying, sawing sprus and setting eggs. She is the best little helper a man could ask for. I now have three hens setting on 12 eggs each. I hope they all hatch? Polly started out as a city girl, but after 13 years I think I have her changed over to a country girl. She has a great big soft spot for anything newborn or newly hatched.
and of course for yours truly.
I am a lucky Man!

There aint nothing wrong with being a Chicken farmer ! lol Save all the roosters for a fall fattening on corn, then make dumblings & Gumbo all winter!

Mine are Game chickens and I raise a few each year for showing. Mine are Hatch fowl, growing up Cockfighting was legal here in Oklahoma until about 2002 and I fought some from time to time. All we can do now is raise them for show. A blue ribbon in not quite the same as a Derby win was years ago though, but there is nothing more beautiful than a Game Rooster or more proud!

Thanks
Roy

roy, I don't know if you have ever tried this, but when I was raising game fowl
I found that if I set the eggs when the moon sign was in cancer I would get
a better hatching of chicks.under some of the other signs it would be a couple days
sometimes before all the chicks would hatch out.in cancer signs they all hatch
out about like popping pop corn.you got any them democrat hatch?
I used to have white hackles, some pure morgans & some morgan gilkerson
crosses.but one of the best I ever fought was a blue berg muff. he was a good one
I agree there is nothing more beautiful than a game cock
lots of folks don't know it but the bald eagle beat the game cock by one vote
to be our national bird.

I'VE rocked my babies at nite when they've cried
I've seen their teardrops turn into smiles
that's when I realise all the bad things i've had
all of the good times out weigh the bad.

JT I remember reading that about the eagle just beating the GameCock. The one's I have are from Mr. Gary Gilliam from Oklahoma, I have witnessed and have been told was the best Cocker in North America. He is famous for his Roundheads and His Hatch Fowl. The ones I have are a family of his Hatch, just because I like Green legs, power and Gameness and their beautiful long feathers!!! He was and still is a ledgend in this part of the country. I am going to try and post a picture of a Hatch Stag he let me have.
thanks
