Really like this thread ALTHOUGH there not much about setting eggs .

I grew up w/ Games , still keep a few around . The ones I have are from my old partner who passed away at 92 5 years ago and the ones my Grandfather had from his father before 1880 . While I should just pack it in and get rid of all of them -------------its a big part of my family history and bring myself to do it .

A few pics you Gamers might enjoy , I took these last year .

those are mighty fine looking roosters,I always like the red ones with white in wings
and white streamers in tail feathers.really like the looks of that white muff, jusy send him here to va. lol
I think the only pic. I have now is when I was in service in 50's.it is a white rooster
that a man in burke va. has a strain of.most thought they were white clarets but he
said they were a strain of white whitehackles.he wouldn't sell to anyone.one time whill I was visiting him he said he had an ole 6 volt farm tractor, that if I would chane over to a 12 volt
he would give me a young trio.so I did & from those birds I raised I guess overall the best
I ever fought. they were dead game & could win in one fly or in a long drag fight if necessary
one most fights in 3-4 pittings.
I quit fighting them along about the time slashers were getting popular here in the states
I didn't care for sla shers
I used a pair of alvin davis, antlers ok., 2 5/8 in. half bayonet jaggers when in long heels
1 1/2 in. in short heels, one split socket & one regulation
enough rambling for now

I'VE rocked my babies at nite when they've cried
I've seen their teardrops turn into smiles
that's when I realise all the bad things i've had
all of the good times out weigh the bad.

J T , please keep rambling as you call it. I am soaking it up like a sponge. I love any info or stories about Game Fowl and would really like to see the picture you spoke about.

You last two fellows have stirred my blood . Been down to Boxwood , Dann Valley , Berryville , Springbrook , Ky ., Mid Ohio Valley and some places farther south . The one and a halfs was long heels for me , where I live ------------its one and a quarters . Those white muffs ? last time at Boxwood I won the first three w/ them and lost the 4th w/ a ( sorry to say this ----a hatch ) . Those muffs you have to cut the heads off to win , same w/ the whitehackles . Growing up I didn't know there were any other kinds of roosters . I can tell ya some good ones if I meet up w/ you guys come Fall . Von

The other family of Hatch I have are directly from Rat Graves and Gary Gilliam who won cocker of the year 4 or 5 years in row at the Mid America pit in Muldrow, Ok against the toughest competion in the Country. I feel very lucky to have been able to get this bloodline. Back when Cockfighting was legal, I would not have been able to get this bloodline. They are called BoneCrusher Hatch. If any of you subscribe to the Game Cock magazine then you have seen them.

Come on Creek Dawg! The Gaff is where the Game Cock got his name from. Knife fight's were for Dung Heel's. LOL!!! Just kidding, I too liked the Knife fights for watching, some of the gaff derdy fight's went on forever, but when it was over everyone knew who had the gamest rooster of the match in the gaff. Some time it took all night though. Flatiron said it best( the last two guy's stirred my blood). I wish we could still fight these fine Birds! I truly loved it and still enjoy talking about it.

Here is a picture of a pair of Hatch Hens. They were trying to set almost everyday and I ended up putting them in 4x4 pens to stop them.

Hey Guys , Been all over and IMO nothing tests a bird like One and a quarter peg awls or regs. . Those goes are fast too , seen lots of long heel birds come North and couldn't take the short stuff very long . I don't care much for those knifes , seems a waste of good fowl .
