Creig , I told you I post , so here goes. Went to Compton's Corner, found where a groop of hogs walked down a sand bed, seen a turkey track on top of the hog tracks,it as just braking daylight ,so I knew the hogs had waiked before dark the day before. I put Toby and Buster on the ground, they trailed about 400 yrds. before they started opening, they trailed for about 30 or 40 minutes, and then I heard a ruckus, I thought a pack of cyotes had caught one of my dogs , they was less than a half a mile from me , I hurried as fast as I could , when I got to the ruckus , A PACK OF DOGS had Buster caught down in a gully ,I slid down on them ,just a hollaring , I picked Buster up trying to get him to the bank of the creek and triped over Toby floating in the creek , he had swollowed a tremendous amount of water , I tyed them up in my shirts and started out, 2 1\2 hours later I got to the buggy, Toby died about 100 yrds.from the fourwheller , I put Buster in the frount of my truck , he died shortly after I got home . Day's Double Target Toby and Day's Buster died on 5-6-2010 ,I have been in the woods all my life ,alot by myself , I have never seen such in my life , I had rather them caught me then my dogs, my dogs did not have a chance !!!!! |

This is terrible news. Toby nor Buster either one deserved to go out this way. There are several things I would like to know but I'll talk to you when I get home. For those of you who don't know, Toby was an exceptional dog who has sired several above average dogs. From the start, Toby was a hunting machine. He had an uncommonly cold nose and a desire to find what was at the end of a trail. He was hunted on coon, bear and, of course, hogs. He did really well on all three. Robert Kemmer made the cross. Rob put the time and care into Toby and was rewarded with a great dog. I, myself, will miss Toby and I know Rob is sick. Rob, I have a young male at the house that favors Toby a lot. He is yours if you want. |

Sorry for your loss Rob, Toby was one of those Kemmers that could do nothing but improve the breed. As bad as it is it would been even worse for us if Pokey had been one of the victims. Hope you have good prospects coming along from both dogs. |
