Bandit, come hunt with me! You cannot see the ground where I hunt! I have coon hunted in the summer months many years. Use to hunt every night in Gum Swamp, a snake infested place if you ever saw one. Never got a dog snake bit in the woods but did get one bit in the dang yard! Go figure!! |

I have had a couple bitten in the past while huning coon. My walker hound got it bad while running a big coon. She did tree the coon, but when I got to the tree, she was already very weak and sick. I had to carry her back to the truck. I took her to the Vet. and she was OK in a day or so. I also had a MT. Cur bit once right in the nose and she almost died. I have seen some big rattlesnakes in the hills around SW AR. near DeQueen where I did live at that time. |

There were a couple of dogs that got snake bit at the Spring hunt , so I asked my vet what she would recommend for a snake bite. She said that she would give the dog some benadryl, put hot compresses on the bite site and an antibiotic to help with the swelling, but she said to try and get the dog to a vet as soon as you can. What would yall recommend ? Conrad Larrieu |

Yall ever heard of snake weed before? Thats what I carry around with me all the time.I never have had to use it myself but I've heard stories about dogs almost dead brought back to life with it.I know that it grows natural around here in SC. |

Electrical shock has been proven to work,if you are in a bind, friend of mine had a dog get bit in the head by a 30 lb diamondback and got him to the truck and used truck battery and the next day the dog WASN`T EVEN SWELLED.I saw that myself, but we need to keep some Dex with us anyway. |
