I READ , IF A DOG WOULD DRINK, LET IT DRINK WHOLE MILK FROM THE STORE, LET THE DOG HAVE A GALLON, IF HE WILL DRINK IT. WHOLE MILK WILL BREAK DOWN THE SNAKE BITE, AND REDUCE THE FEVER.

HOW MUCH DEXAMETHASONE DO YOU GIVE A DOG, ( SAY HE WEIGHTS ABOUT 45 TO 50 LBS.)???????

hOW OFFEN DO YOU GIVE IT???????

Mr. Don, I been useing Dex (Dexium) for years on snake bit dogs, I hunted beagles on rabbits before I moved over into the tree dog world. I ain't no animal doctor but this is what works for me. My animal Dr. pre-mixes it for me. I give 2cc shot in the hind leg, directly into the muscle, another 2cc shot in the opposite leg the next day if things don't get much better, if things still don't get any better, off to the vet we go. The dosage for your size dog will probally be the same, I'am not 100% certain on that though! I've never lost a beagle to a snake bite and this is what I've always have used. I think some of it is luck also, because I know several dogs, that freinds have lost to snake bites, and they have used this same formula. I think the placement of the bite makes a big difference on the dogs survivel also. Hope this may help you some. Thomas........ps I use four different vet and this is there choice also Dexium.

when I started using 5 or 6 years ago ,I was told to give the shot as close to the bite as possible by another coon hunter,so I give them 2 cc right in the middle of the wounds if possible,as long its is not draining already .....

My Grandma lived to be 102 yrs old and she told me she saved many a snake bit dog by givin them milk,I never argued with such a wise woman! What did your vet mix it with? I also think it matters what kind of snake bit the dog,it is pretty much over if a diamondback gets him,you can tell if thats what bit them because the bite holes will bleed alot.

Dex is used for the swelling and given intermuscular. I give 3cc the first day 2cc the next and 1cc the 3rd day. Note if the dog has diarrea back the dosage down that is a sign of overdosage.

Mr. Don
2.5 cc's for most the females and 3cc's for most of the males. Two days back down .5 the second day. Of course watch them if they are not improving we head to Nan's place. I really like for Nan to look at one as soon as she can.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Laree
