Put a bark collar on a dog yesterdy for most of the day, went to get it off and all the hair and hide was gone and he had the worst smell I have ever smelled, just about couldn`t get it off my hands, took all collars off of him and give him some penicillin, anybody on here ever had an issue like that?

We have used the no bark collars before with no problems. Now I have had them to make a raw place under their neck where the contacts are after a time or two of useing them but no smell.............Big Ronnie

I use "Cut and Heal" for raw cuts on my dogs, might help. I buy mine at the local farm store.

I put some spray on it,gonna have to shave his neck this afternoon. I remembered I had another dog do the same thing and the vet told me he was allergic to the coating on the collar he was wearing. STRANGE! I literally had to wash my hands in bleach and scent-a-away hunters soap to get that smell off of me,smelled like rotten meat,oh its awful!

Might have been the acid leaked from the battery on the no-bark collar?

back years ago i had a deer dog that did that. It was summer time and he fattened up so the collar got to tight and rubbed a place. Like you said it smelled like rotted meat. I just took the collar off and it dried up and hair grew back never had any more problems. good luck

Rob,You probably got one or two just like me that wont shut-up at times.I know exactly what your talkin about. If your using the sportdog no-bark collars & they are young like some of mine than they are tough as nails. These sportdog collars will burn the hair clean off their necks & it sounds like you got some hard headed ones like I do that cant seem to learn with just a shock or two. These young dogs are barking so much to where the collars are sinching the hair & causing the smell.

Rob I started to tell you this morning that I bet the dog has just been shocked a bunch and he is burnt and once it gets raw in this heat and is irritated it just gets worse. The dog-tra YS500 is what we use and JackV is pretty hard headed but I found out that on most of our dogs you could set it on 3 or 4 and it would work just fine and keep them quiet but for Jack he would still bark some and it would make a raw place on him but I found out if I turned it on up to like 6 it would get his hard headed attention quicker and after a few times up on a higher setting he wouldn't bark at all while it was on him...........Big Ronnie
