I understand about the heat. I am 43 yrs young and in fairly good health and it is hard on me. We have been working some young dogs and have had to stop. It is just to darn hot.>>>>>>>>>>>>Laree

It's so dog on hot, it's almost unbareable! I've been cheating like Bullet said he's been doing lately, it ain't right, but it's the only way to beat the heat.

Jimmino always told me the worse the weather, the less folks out there so you have the woods to yourself! ;)

I hunted mostly 7 nights a week for about 4 years straight including the dead of summer in some of the worst places you can imagine for snakes, skitters and such! Jimmino had me beat because he was back up at day light walking in the creeks looking for coon tracks sicking pups on cold trails. He said every dog needs to learn to cold trail.

Jimmino is 70. He has had numerous heart attacks, strokes, back surgery, broken bones, shot, stabed and even has a defibulator in his chest now.(I call him Lucky!!! :D ) When I am laid up in the air condition complaining how hot it is and try to call Jimmino to shoot the bull, Diane says he is out coon hunting by himself. Kinda makes me feel like a great white hunter!! :$

I ain't 'near-about' as mad at them coon as I use to be but I still try to take my sorry mutts to the woods at least 3 times a week if its just for a short round, especially the young dogs. Just be sure you have dogs around water.

I just as soon take my chances with them getting snake bit doing something as to set in the pen doing nothing!

Just use common sense! Summertime hunting can be fun!!! Especially when the kitten coon come out in corn season and you got some young dogs coming on.

Everybody needs to keep their dogs hydrated huntin in this heat. I keep a gallon of K9-Bluelite mixed in my cooler,it is like Gatorade for a dog, good to have.

In the hot months I hunt as early in the morning as I can (Usually about 5:30) and I try to hunt along or end at a creek so the dog can drink and get cool......Don

I'm with Don, I turn them out at first light and stick close to water until the sun gets too high in the sky to continue. I know everyone has the humidity to go along with the heat, just as I do, and that is the worst part of it for the dogs and for man. The humidity is the killer, or at least I think so.

:D I'M glad to see that Lil Buddy is treeing the meat for you! I miss the lil guy, But I wanted someone to use him in the hybrid program. He's one hard hunting machine. Anyone looking to bred small kemmers, or hybreds should give him a try. He is bred to produce some game crazy pups :D Robert did you ever get those pistol grips an scope mounts from your brother?
