I talked to one of the men in our hunting club on Lake Yucatan today. He told me that they were seeing deer regular and then they stopped seeing them. They have been putting out corn for the deer and the corn in gone after a couple nights but still not seeing any deer in the last week. Then yesterday evening they found out what the problem is. He was in his bow stand and pretty late in the evening a bear (pretty big bear to) walked out of the woods behind his stand and walked right by him. James said the bear went straight to the corn and was cleaming it up as good as a a valcum cleaner would have done. He got out of his stand and hollard at it and the bear just looked at him like he was saying ( this is my corn go find you some else where). When a bear moves in your deer territory the deer are gone immediatly. They can smell one for a mile. I told James that I flipped a nickle to see which one of us had to run the bear off and he lost fair and square (I swear he did) B) . If I had of lost I would have stood up to my end of the deal (I would have sent Laree down there with her alumiumn ball bat) she ran me off with it one time and I'm as big as the bear is. :'( ...........Big Ronnie

Don't know what happened but I do know the corn stealing has stopped. We have had 4 men that have been bow hunting and none of them haven't seen nothing of the bear in a while. Each one has killed a deer bow hunting in the last few days or so. This shows that maybe one of the other clubs that joins us may feed better or maybe they are just nicer people than our boys are. It hasn't been but a few years back and the talk of a bear was very rare in our parts. Now days they are every where in Tensas and Madison parishs. Laree and Machelle have run up on several during the last year while coon hunting and had one to run them and the dogs out of the woods. I tried to tell them that they need to be brave in front of the dogs but this didn't go over too well with them. :'( .............Big Ronnie
