WE have always had some kinda drive in burger joints around here. Mostly mom & pop or some kinda private enterprize. However "A&W"chain has dissapeared as well as "Dog & Suds"& "Maidrite". When economy got bad few years ago "Hardees" & "Kentucky Fried" suddenly become far & few between leaving "Burger King & "Mc Donalds to feed the fast lane population. Now in the last couple of years I've seen "Sonic Burgers" drive ins start to show up here & there in the bigger towns. Someone said they have been around a long time down south. Is this true or are they a new outfit starting up? If any of you guys have them are they better than Mc Donalds or Burger King? Just wondering.

They was one in our closest town when I was a kid. It closed down because of Hardees. Now they are coming back with places in several of the towns close by. Seems like a lot of people prefer them to Hardees or Mc Donalds.

Going to have to try Sonic for sure. Got tired of Mc Donalds & Burger King quite a while ago. Still stop in at good ole "DAIRY QUEEN" once in a while. In this area Dairy Queen used to be a drive up to & order your food & ice cream at the window & you ate in your car or at a picnic table if they had one. When times got kinda tough a while back all the Dairy Queens around here remodeled & now have indoor eating facilities. Plus expanded their menus & they stay open year round now as they used to close for winter. Any day of the work week when you drive by their store here at noon time you'll see the parking lot full! Mc Donalds wasn't able to push Dairy Queen out of town like they did Hardees.
