Me and my buddy (Bodine ) have been working hauling cottonseed from sept. till this weekend with no time off. Me and him loaded up and went to the camp over on Lake Yucatan friday evening. Bodine joined our club this year and now it looks like he's going to be with us for life after this weekend. I killed us a spike late sat. evening so we would have something to eat on and about 5 minutes after I killed the spike I heard Bodine shoot right at dark. He had shot a 8 point and knocked him down to his knees but he got up and was gone just as fast as he had went down. It was 27 degrees that night and I told Bodine it would be best for us to wait till morning to look for him. Well when I got up at daylight he had been outside walking round and round waiting on me to get up and out for way before daylight. Impatient as I have ever saw, said he had been up most of the night thinking about this deer. We get on our 4 wheelers and go back to where he shot him and bingo, there he was 25 steps in the different direction than he had thought he had ran. Well this was just the beginning of his big day on Yucatan for Bodine. I have been hunting a 10 point for several years on my stand and Bodine went to the stand across the slough from mine sunday evening and I went to another one on the other side of the woods.. The last 5 minutes of light and he said he could see this buck walking under my stand and then he crossed the ditch and walked as straight to Bodine as he could and then(boom). Yea you guessed it, when I rode up on my 4 wheeler I could see the horns before I could see the deer. He was a 10 point with 18 inch inside spread with 22 in long main beams and Bodines smile was longer than that. Here are a few pictures and these cell phone pictures don't do either one of these deer no justice. ..........Big Ronnie![]() ![]() ![]()

I was ashamed to show mine after Bodine went and showed out. Then to top this off Bodine said I was a good shot. I ask him why did he say this and he said anyone that hit a deer as small as mine was at 310 yds. had to be a good shot. ...........Big Ronnie

Me, Laree and Machelle went to the camp this last weekend and boy was it cold. I set in my stand and watched a doe and a little buck feed around my feeder all evening but wouldn't shoot the buck because I was waiting on a bigger one and plus it was just tooooo cold to have to dress one after dark as cold as it was. Machelle watched deer also all evening in her stand. Just before dark it when it was really getting cold (BOOM) and the BOOM came from Larees stand. Then in just a minute I got a text massage on the cell phone (dropped him in his tracks) then me and Machelle both had to help dress Larees cow horn spike buck in the cold anyway...........Big Ronnie |

Sounds like some of my past experiences with hunting partners Ronnie! Had three friends that I use to hunt with & we had a track of land to ourselves to hunt.We would always agree before hand to trophey manage our area & not shoot anything but good mature bucks.Well,I reakon they would always seem to forget about their trophey management agreement after they climbed up in their stand. One evening in perticular I was sitting their in the stand watching a big old doe with two little ones close by.After they left my sight why I thought WW3 had done broke out. They would be toting them out looking like oversized rabbits with milk still dripping off their mouths. Didnt take me to long to figure out after cleaning all their deer on them cold nights that we wasnt really managing nothing but to fill their freezers up. I guess you could say I put in my fair share of cold weather labor for those two boys for one season!
