After reading Calvins post about his son killing his spike behind his house made want to tell ya'll my daddys hunting story this year. Daddy has always hunted and has always killed deer for many years. He has always had a big box stand in the woods. This last spring the doctors put him on oxygen 24 hrs. daily and told him that his outside activeities was over. Well he got him a hoveround and had him a ramp and pourch built at the back door. He can go to the mail box and even walk outside for a few minutes at the time. Now as deer season begain to get near he went to thinking and put him a big feeder in the corner of the back yard so he can see it while setting at the kitchen table in the house. Now he gets in his hoveround and takes corn, rice bran and salt to the feeder. I was there christmas eve cooking a gumbo for us to have christmas and daddy was watching 4 does eating out of his feeder then. Then in a couple days they were up to 8 does. Then wed. evening there he was (8 point) and daddy slide the slideing back door open and picked up his 270 weatherby mag. (that he don't mind telling you is the best gun ever made) that was standing up next to the door and was ready and he got his first buck of the year with his weatherby. Boy was he fired up then and ready for the next one to come in the back yard and check on his does. Then the next morning (thur) while eating breakfast he looked out the glass door and picked up his weatherby once again and down went a 13 in. 5 point (still in his pajamas). This proves that if you can't go to them but have enough corn in the yard they will come to you. There's not a doubt in my mind that he's not near through with this years hunt yet. Nicest deer stand a man could ask for, hot food, television, hot and cold running water, heat, air conditioning and a place to charge his hoveround chair. 50CAL .........Big Ronnie

Daddy has his own skinning man that stays on standby. All he has to do to clean one is make the phone call and it's done. He's way ahead of me.........Big Ronnie

This is Rory, she had just turned 11 the week before and she shot this deer from her front porch on the 18th of this month.
The deer was chasing does out in the pasture and wouldn't stay still long enough for her to get a shot. Her momma, in her PJs, runs to her daddies truck and grabs some rattling horns and bangs them together. The deer stopped and looked at them broadside. She dropped him at 183 yds with her dads 243.
Her dad is the ranch foreman on the ranch that I hunt on and they live at headquarters.
The deer scored 132 for a 7 pointer. The G2s are 13.5 inches long, inside spread right at 22 inches.
Her first deer and believe it or not, this was a cull buck.
