Ronnie was North of Chatanooga, Tn a couple of hours ago. He said that the further south he comes the worse the roads get and the more snow there is. Him and Little Ronnie should be home this afternoon sometime and I sure am ready to give my Big Man a hug.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Laree T

This is this morning.

Home sweet home. We made home just a few minutes ago. All we like is 25 more miles tomorrow morning and unloading it at their house. I thought it got bad going up but I was mistaken. Going up the road was in pretty good shape all the way up to Knoxville. From Knoxville on up into Va. the snow was anywhere from 4 in. to 12 in. but then I ran into dry road on up to Charlottsville Va. where Lawarance had the wreck. I met Little Ronnie there and we dropped my trailer at the wrecking yd. and picked up Lawanences van and carried it on up to Wemble Del. Good road all the way up and back just cold as all get out. It stayed right around 18 to 19 the intire time I was there and even untill I got west of Birmingham. We got his truck loaded on my trailer yesterday around 12:00 noon and headed south. The sun was shining and the roads was in good shape but not for long. The futher south we came the worse it got. I fought it till I got on the south side of Knoxville last night and we stopped for some supper and fuel. Just as we were fixing to leave the truck stop after eating there was a 6 car pile up at the exit ramp out front. I just left her parked and we camped out there till they got the roads cleared some this morning. I thought we would run out of the bad stuff on down the road some and we did (some far ways on down the road west of Birmingham on I-20. From Chattanooga it got worse by the mile. At every bridge we crossed there was either 1 car or more or the whole fiberglass front end from cars scattered from Knoxville to Birmingham. Thank goodness I didn't donate no Peterbilt truck parts to none of the icey bridges. Lawarence has managed to say a few words but only a few since the stroke. They put something in his stomach to feed him with today and after they have done a catscan they decided he was a canadate for rehab. This gave Margaret a little more hope because for the last 2 days he hasn't responde to very little. She called this evening to check and see if we were out of the ice and snow yet and she told me that he had made some improvement today with moveing his hands and feet. It is a funny thing that we were married for 12 years and now we are good friends and her and Laree have always got along good together. She has been in the trucking buisness for years herself and Lawarence made this round up there every 2 weeks by his self and bought and sold antique furniture. She told me and Laree that when her and Little Ronnie was on the way up that people were calling and telling her that it would be $100 per day till their load was delivered the wrecking yard told her that it was going to be $200 per day for storage as long as the truck was there. She told Laree and me that she couldn't think of a soul to call to come out in a winter storm and travel that far which turned out to be 2752 miles to help her except us. I come out smelling like a burguler because this woman makes the best chicken and dressing you have ever tasted and I told her right up front that there would be no truck delivered at her house if she didn't promise that when things got better she would come to our house and cook me a 5 gallon bucket full of it. There is no feeling any better than the feeling you get when you know that someone really appreicates what you done for them and this is what made my whole trip worth while (plus the dressing). These two still have a long hard road to travel and mine and Larees prayers are with them...............Big Ronnie
