Momma and daddy live in Newellton La. and their house is between the levies. There is the inner levie on the river and then there is the outer levie and they are in between the two. Where they live it has never flooded. Maybe in 1927 but I'm not sure. I carried two 53 ft. vans over there and over the weekend we loaded everything in their house in them (except for 1 bed, a little tv, small frig., and a camp 4 eyed burner to cook on. I moved the rest of it out yesterday. The river stage said the river was going to crest on 53.5 ft. on the 18th and at 53.5 there was 50-50 chance that it wouldn't go over the levie. Momma just called this evening and told me the corp. of enginers at Vicksburg gave her a new river stage today. It has been changed to 57.5 ft. now and this is a whole different ball game. The water will get to atleast 12 to 14 ft. deep in their house. Daddy is 82 and momma is 78 and they both do pretty good for their age but this is putting them to the test. If the outer levie breaks we all will be put to the test..........Big Ronnie

I went to bed last night and it was raining and when I got up this morning and it was still raining. It has rained all night long and it is 100% rain for most of the day today. Me and Laree live 50 miles from the river now but they have found a bad place in the levie near Tallulah. This is what happened in 1927 when it flooded this whole country. It is nothing but flat farm land from the mississippi river going west to Monroe (75 miles) and if this levie don't hold it will flood everything in this 75 mile wide area for miles and miles south. The first thing that is thought of here is the animals if this was to happen. We have 5 horses and dogs plus more dogs. At 2:00 am this morning when I was trying to sleep it come to me. Instead of this 48 ft. double deck wilson cow trailer in my front yard being a cow trailer it might be converted into a double deck dog trailer. They are not saying anything yet about it actually flooding our area but if the big levie was to break it would for sure get everyone in this area...........Big Ronnie

Me and Laree went over this evening and picked up our camper trailer and brought it home. In the morning me and Little Ronnie are going back for the tractor and the equipment with the equipment trailer and to get his camper trailer. That will be the last of it. It's been a long hard job trying to get all this together and then get it moved 50 miles to our place. Momma and daddy live by their selfs but they had enough deep freezes, refrigeraters, cloths, and funiture for the 101st. airborn.................Big Ronnie

Went back this morning to get the tractor and equipment. When they cut the levie a couple days ago they didn't cut down to where the water would come over then. What they did was they cut down around 5 feet from the top but still a couple feet from the water. This way as the water got higher it would start comeing through the 2 places that were cut gradually instead of just blowing through at once. Yesterday there was no water on the road if front of daddys house but this morning when i got there it was about 4 foot deep and rolling across the road at their house. It will be 10 or 12 ft. deep by thursday or friday in the house. Here is a couple pictures of the road in front of their yard and a few pictures of the last minute stuff to come out. Their house is about 75 yds. out in the water in this first picture...........Big Ronnie

They didn't or won't give a dime. Where they live it hasn't flooded since 1927. Momma has checked on flood insurance for several years and the last quaote they got was like three years ago and they wanted $29,000 per year because they are between the two levies. I have tried talking them into buying a place here close to us. That river bottom is home to them and they will be back as soon as the water is gone.............Big Ronnie

This is the shed out in front of the house it sits lower then the house it's on a hill. The shed closes to you is just the open shed but the one beside it is the shop.

This big boy was swimming along the tree line at the bottom of the levie.

He made a hard left right in there and was swimming towards the house last I saw him.
