Well the stuff I usually haul has slowed down a little. I was talking to a man that I haul for some and he said he had a load going form Alexandra La. to Troy Pa. (1365 miles) up there. It don't have to be up there untill tuesday morning so I don't have to leave till sunday. It's been a long time since I've been to Pa. so I was willing to jump on this. After I loaded and was headed home I called a friend I used to haul for in Texas that sometimes has stuff comeing back from New York and up north. I ask him did he have anything up north that I could pick up for him and his answer was YEP I SURE DO BIG RONNIE. He just happen to have one in Toronto Canada comeing back to Lareda Tx. (4530 miles by the time go up and down to Lareda and back home.) I'm 63 and I'm still wondering just how old you have to get before you learn not to let yourself get into these kind of perdictiments. Sometimes I think I'm my worst emeny...........Big Ronnie |

Here is a few pictures that I took from my office window this week while I was in Pa., West virgina and Virgina. I unloaded just north of Scrantan Pa. in a little town up on the mountain top. I had a friend that went with me with another one of these loads and he blowed the top out of his radiater while we were climbing a 6 mile long mountain that was 6 and 7% grade up and down. We liked 100 miles from being where we were going when this happened. This made me have to go and unload my load and come back and get his load and go unload it. We had a new radiater sent in over night by next day air and by dark we had him going again. I loaded in Alexanderia La. going up and after I unloaded I found a load in Pittsburg Pa. comeing back to Alexanderia. After I loaded in Pittsburg yesterday evening I ran I-79 down to Wytheville Va. and I climbed up and down them mountains for over 300 hard miles that kills my fuel milage. I burnt $1000 of fuel from yesterday evening in Pittsburg untill I got home today at 5:00 this evening. I bought diesel in Pa. for $4.40 per gall. and on the way in I fueled in Meridean Ms. for $3.69 per gall.Thats .71 cents a gall. difference. Something is wrong with this picture somewhere............Big Ronnie This one of the many tunnels that you go through the mountains in when they really get steep. ![]() ![]() This might look like a regular road but it was 7 miles of 6 and 7% up hill grade.

Ronnie, a older gentleman I hunt with sometimes is in his 70's and when I go with him, I tie my tennies real good. I'm 55 and just starting to hit my prime! Pretty country you went through, it's been years since I've been thru there. I hope your family is still clear of that flooding. Those pictures you posted of their home under water was amazing to me here in powder dry New Mexico. Thankyou for them pictures. |
