Thomas I know that opening the Morganza spillway will put a lot of flood water in your area. Will this effect your home and family? How about you also Calvin? I know that by opening the Morganza spillway it will flood a lot of land in the athafalaya basin and there are a lot of people that live in this area and there farms and homes and jobs will be direct targets of this water. I know this is going to affect alot of people down south in ya'lls area that normally are in the safe zone each year when we get high water up here along the miss. river. Here in our area like on Yucatan for instance we are used to high water each year coming down the miss. and those like me just hook on to the camper and load things up and go across the levie to daddys house with it till it goes down. Not this year because we had to go back and move our stuff and daddys too. Daddys and mommas house is arouind 3 to 4 feet completely under water now and getting deeper each day. There are alot of camps and several that live there that are built up in the air high enough to take the normally take the high water and stay dry. This won't happen this year. When the water first started to coming down we moved out like I say to daddys and everyone that was up in the air put everything upstairs. My friend James Lachney has the store at the landing where my camp is and he moved everything out of the store upstairs into the rent rooms over the top of the store to the normally safe zone from the water. Not this time though, after the river kelpt rising more and more him and all the people that had put things upstairs had to go 3 miles back to the lake by boat and make many trips back and fourth hauling everthing they could that was put upstairs. Now the two story store and motel rooms are under water and also all the nice camps that were built in the air for the high waters that come each year are under also. Thomas and Calvin I hope this don't effect ya'll directly but no one really knows just how much harm and damage this flood water can do or will do. Hope ya'll and your familys stay clear of it and are not hit by it..............Big Ronnie

Sorry to hear about the flood in your area Ronnie. I know there are many familys that will be affected. I will get water if the Atchalafaya west levee don't hold. It flloded here in 1940 when my mom was a kid and they had to move to high ground in Lafayette. I am hoping and praying the levee that has been raised and beefed up since the 1974 flood will do its job.

Every thing looking decent so far, where I'm at. If the levee holds up, we'll be in good shape.

I really feel bad for the people that are going through all this high water/floods. The town I grew up in (Muncy)suffered flooding from the Susquehanna river when we had heavy rains and snow melt. It sure makes a mes and sometimes people loose everything and have to start over new. Don

Ronnie and I have already made plans if the levie was to break animals and what I can throw in our 48 ft van. As long as we have each other we will make it. The thought of loosen everything don't sit real well with most folks but for us it is different we have the dogs I can replace most everything in our house but not most of our dogs and horses. I went and looked at Momma Sue and Granddaddy's house a few days ago it broke my heart just glad they got everything out before the water got them. Good luck to all along the Miss River.>>>>>>>>>>>>>Laree T
