Pup died from Rat Poison; Ward Snip X Black Belle

Thursday I went to the dog pen to check on the dogs and found Toby (Ward Snip X Black Belle) dead in his pen. I took him to the vet because I needed to know what could possibly have killed a 9-month old pup who was well taken care of. The vet opened him up and said he had massive internal bleeding, and he was almost positive that it was a strong rat poison. I have never had rat poison anywhere on my property. Toby had not been out of the pen in two days. This is the second dog that I have lost like this in 3 years, and now I am wondering what is going on!

Toby was only 9 months old. I purchased him from Ronnie Taylor back in October. This past February, I hunted Toby a lot and killed twelve squirrels and one day-time coon. Toby was just what I had been looking for. Smart, good personality, minded and loaded well, and treed with his feet on the tree. At seven months, he was the most mature dog that I had ever owned. Sometimes, with problems like this, you wonder if it is worth the time and money to stay in the dog business.

Dang I sure hate to hear this about Toby. Not because he came form here but Toby was as fine a looking kemmer dog as I have ever saw. Mr. Billy I want you to come by here and pick you out any of our pups that you like the looks of and he is yours. Don't forget Butch is here to and he is really still yours if you want him. I don't know if you like brindle or not but we have a fine looking brindle male pup here that would make you a dandy. He is 3 months old and is out of Ole Trouble II and Sue. This pup is rapped up in Ole Trouble blood and you are welcome to him. Nig is his grandaddy on top and bottom. My son has a brindle littermate male to him and he wouldn't take nothing for him. We have 2 yellow males out of Belle and Ole Trouble II and you are welcome to either one of them. Ride over one day and look and see if you see something you like. A man that loves to fool with and hunt these young dogs like you do don't need to be without no dog. Even when I am off on a trip Laree is still here every day and Mr. Billy she will fix you up. Very sorry to hear of the loss of such a fine young dog. I know it is tough, but
the best therapy is to get another pup and get right back after it.

Sorry you lost your good young cur. I lost a very good Ladner BMC the same way several years back. He got into some rat poison and died.

Mr. Billy I wished I could have been home to vist with you when you came by but Laree can do everything here that I can do and (and more). I'm glad to see this brindle male pup out of Trouble II x Sue to go to your house. Like I told you this pups grandaddy is Nig on the top and the bottom side too. There is no doubt in my mind that he will make you a fine squirrel dog. Men Mr. Billy Lyles is another one of ya'll that really enjoys putting in hours of his time with these young kemmer dogs. Good luck with him Mr. Billy...............Big Ronnie
