I went to Yucatan today and looked at the water. it is going down some but it will still be a long time yet before it is gone and it will leave some bad memories in alot of peoples minds. There is camps and houses that have been built up in the air 20 or 25 ft. and have never come close to getting water in them but this time it got all of them. I mean everyone of them. Some went completely under that have never got a drop in them before. The water has gone down 12 ft. or more and it is still 8 ft. deep where my camper trailer was at. There is a friend of mine that has the two story store at the landing and he has always put everything upstairs when the river got up but this time it got to the top of the second story. Here is a few pictures of momma and daddys house that has never had a drop in it till this yr. It went completely under this time. It looks pretty good from the outside but everything inside has fallen apart. The ceiling has fell out and the inside walls is laying in the floor or what is left of the floor...........Big Ronnie Momma and Daddys house ![]() ![]() ![]() This where the levie was cut to let the water inside the two levies that flooded the houses inside. Right in the middle of where the levie is cut the water is 15 ft. deep today.

Here is some more pictures from right on the river where me and Laree camp. The water is still 8 ft. deep there now and it has gone down over 12 ft.............Big Ronnie This is the store at the landing and don't forget it isa 2 story building and the water was almost over the top of it when it was 12 ft. higher. You can see the where the water stain is on the side but this is from the last few days since it started back to falling. ![]() ![]() This is a trailer house that Momma and daddy used to own when they had the landing for years. We raised it up in the air thinking it would go over the levie and flood the world before it ever got into the trailer this high. (Was we ever wrong). It almost went over the top of it. You can see the water stain on the screen porch. ![]() ![]()

Ronnie I bet it would be hard for anybody to want to live in this area again especially after all this has happened to them.I know that it would be a hard thing to swallow after being raised & living there all you're life. But,I dont think anyone would want to risk the gamble of them not breaking the levy again though.Glad to see that you're folks found them a new place that they can be happy about! |

Bruce daddy found another place alright but it took some talking to talk both of them into it. They are already makeing pland of moveing another trailer back there as soon as the water goes on down. It will be a smaller single wide that can be pulled out easily. They both still call that home. Here is the bad part about their deal. They had been told by the people that were working on the levie that they were going to build it up 2.5 ft. and it would have held the water out. Then like at 8 am one morning they came and told daddy and them that they had decided to cut the levie and let it flood and they cut it just a few hours later with no time to get there double wide moved out. I guess they were lucky when they decided to go ahead and load all the inside stuff up in 2 of the van trailers I carried to them and parked in the yard. I don't know who else knows but I know that it will take more than this to keep my daddy away from the river. He will just go about it a little different this time. ..........Big Ronnie
