I need some first hand experience & info please. Do any of you coonhunters use a high quality lazer on your guns for coonhunting? Do you know of anyone that does? What have you actually seen of the lazers performance good & bad while coonhunting? I know they had some problems when they first came out several years back & I don't care to hear about all that cause I'm only interested in the newer up to date models. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Let me ask you laser guys something else. Do you ever have any problems with what they call "laser distortion"? I personally saw this myself several years ago when lasers were just coming on to the market to the public. A couple of coonhunters was showing off their lasers to us one night after they met up with us back at the truck after hunting. I shined one of their laser equipped revolvers up into a nearby tree & when the laser beam hit some brushy viney type stuff up there in the top of that tree there was red dots all over that tree top! I asked him what happened & he said the brush broke the laser beam & thats why the laser beam split so many ways the way it did. I was baffled by this to say the least. Well day before yesterday I was at a Cabelas store & I asked salesperson at the guncounter about that laser distortion that I saw years ago. He told me it can still happen today even with a high dollar laser. Do you guys encounter this very often? Sometimes our dogs will tree in some trees with nasty thick stuff overhead that I don't know for sure if a laser beam can get through.

Wendel, I don't have any experience with them, but I have been thinking about trying it myself.

Charles- The target shots that you posted earlier in this thread-were those shots from off a bench rest or standing & shooting? Did you have to do very much adjusting to the laser to get the laser sighted in with your iron sights on your pistol? I watched the videos of how to mount Crimson Trace lasers on your handguns & how to sight them in on Crimsontrace.com Very informative. But they (Crimson Trace) do not speak of laser distortion like I saw & spoke of in my previous post. Charles have you ever had the laser beam split when your laser beam hit some thick brush in a tree top?

Wendel, I was looking to see if I had laser distortion tonight while Duke was running a coon for OVER 2 HRS!!. I did not see any distortion!

The shot group was done propped on the fender of my gator; and the sighting in was fairly easy. I simply shot and watched where the bullet hit in reference to the laser light and adjusted accordingly.

These crimson trace units are first class and work as advertised!! I really enjoy mine!!

Charles- From the CrimsonTrace web-site I see the 2 batteries that power the laser is located inside the grips. When it comes time to put in new batteries you have to take the grips off to install them so then do you have to resight the gun & laser in again?

I can't knock his toes off. But I can hit them in the head when I have something to lean against. Most times I just put enough lead in the air around them, They think It would be safer on the ground lol. NOOOOT. 111111

Came across this topic late. I sure do like the idea of a Mark III and a laser grip! Sounds like a great combo.
