The last two days have been good exercise for my Gamo Whisper .177 AirRifle ! Tuesday -
I have been watching a couple of Starlings that have been hanging around the yard here for a while, I had one shot & missed a while back(about 40yds). I watched & found that one had made a nest in the eve of my garage so I kept an eye on this nest...Today the young YellowBeaks left the nest ! I watched the mother fly back & forth from the nest several times, I guess she was trying to coax them out. While she was doing this I got my Whisper Classic out & grabbed a few Beeman 8.5g CrowMagnums & watched quitley...The mother flew into the large tree behind my garage, she was just out of my sight, I could hear her calling but never did see her, then the young Starling flew straight up into the same tree ! I loaded the CrowMAg into the Whisper & rested up against my fence & took aim....The young starling was sitting about 20yds out & side ways to me & looked like it was getting ready to fly ! I squeezed off the round (the Golden GRTIII is Sweet) a small poof of feathers & it dropped straight to the ground !

I was in the garage today when I looked up & noticed the field mouse sittin on some exposed insulation near the ceiling of the garage in the back cornor, I had my Whisper sitting by the door waiting on the Starlings to pop up so I grabbed the Whisper & loaded a CrowMag. & fed the Mouse a dose of lead ! Looks like a good quality effective gun! Around here we use .410 with #6 shot which works great but kind of hard on the birdhouse...

Coaldigger,
what idoes lube tuned and deburred mean? I'm guessing deburred means the barrel was smoothed out, blank on lube turned. I want one.

CatFish : Check this out for a LubeTune - http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,26274.0.html
As for DeBurr....while you got the gun broke down(DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SPRING COMPRESSER) you hone the Compression chamber & feel for any sharp/rough surfaces & smooth them out. Thsi will make your AirRifle operate alot smoother, more accurate, possibly a few more feet per second & last a lot longer.
I did not do my own gun , the Person I purchased it from does "Tunes" on Air Rifles. It's dangerous to tear an AirRifle apart, that spring has some serious power behind it & can hurt you BAD if it gets loose !

Thanks again. Im thinking they would be good for grouse too. I'll have to check the regs on that one though. The grouse out here are really stupid, most of the ones I have got have been with a S&W model 63. Both blue and roughs just sit there when you come up on them. Growing up in CT., it was a different story, they would flush when we drove up parked and slammed our car doors. After closing the car door we would hear PPfffffffffffff. So many people up there, guess when you get shot at, you get skittish real fast.
