I have been shooting my old Browning Abolt 300 Win. Mag. for 25 years or maybe longer. I decided to put a new scope and a new trigger on it. I went to Simmons Sporting goods in Bastrop La. with it this evening. I layed it on the counter and told the gentleman that I wanted some trigger work done to it and he called the gun smith out. The gun smith looked at it and he said well I can tell you one thing about this gun that he was sure of. I asked whats that and he told me he knew that I really liked this gun alot. This was a puzzle to me because I hadn't opened my mouth about it other than I told the salesman that I wanted a new after market trigger for it. I ask how he knew this and he told me anytime a man brings a gun in there that he has owned for 25 yrs. with no blueing left on it plus it looked like it had been in ww II had to like this gun or I would have done got rid of it years ago and he was very right. I left it with him and he has ordered some trick trigger parts for it plus I bought a new scope for it. I got 3X12X56 Zeiss with a 30 mm tube. I have wanted a Zeiss for a long time but always talked myself out of it when it come time to get it. When you get to where you don't see real good no longer espeacially right at dark when the big ones come out you have to up grade things. New glass's didn't help that much but I think this new scope will get me by for a couple more years now. Be sides Laree bought a new bed today and I"m just trying to get even with her...........Big Ronnie

My son and I both love our A-bolts, ours are .270s and we've had em a while.....I like that well used look and it shows you have spent many an hour toting it around. I've seen some old Model 12s and A-5s that had a finish like an old nickel, all the blueing totally worn off.. I hope our grandkids will inherit our guns and see the blueing worn off in spots and appreciate that wear for what it is......

Ronnie you will love the scope. Yours is a nicer version than mine, and mine has awesome glass! Very crisp and clear.

Troye I didn't say nothing about the new bed myself. All I know is here lately when I have had a chance to get in our old bed I was so tired I didn't notice if it slept good or not and the alarm clock went off what seemed like just minutes after I got in it. Thomas I had a 56mm scope a few years back that gathered light excellent right at dusk dark. Thanks to Larees big headed missouri fox trotter it got broken in half when he rared up and fell over backards in the Miss. Delta one yr. The 50mm just didn't seem to gather as much light as the 56mm did so I decided to go back to it. In the last few years I don't see as good as I used to right at dark and this is when you really need to be watching close for ole grandad.

A little advise for those with the expensive glass. When cleaning th gun with solvent, make sure the glass is protected. That solvent will do a number on the coatings that they put on the glass. I bought some caps from Brownells just for that purpose. I guess a rag would work too. The atomized solvent drifted back from the patch exiting the bore could ruin your whole day.

Thomas I should have it back maybe by the end of next week. Sparrows, red birds, blue jays, even kill dees won't be safe around here on saturdays and sundays for a while. They told me I would have to shoot a box of bullets or maybe 2 through it to seat the barrel in. I ready for this task. This is the only gun I own that Laree nor Machelle don't pickup and claim. They both tried it and decided the 300 mag. was just a touch toooo much for them. Thank goodness for that.........Big Ronnie

Just imagine what a sparrow would look like if a stick of dyomite went off inside of him. Every feather on him flys off of him at the same time............Big Ronnie
