I don't know why, but I bought me a new 10/22 carbine. Any of you guy's use them to hunt with? I liked it because it's short. Are they dependable, accurate, and do they do better with certain brand of ammo.? I'm gonna put a red dot scope on it, with see-thru mounts. Just in case battery would die or something. I really like my Ruger mklll with the crimson trace grips. I was just wondering if these 10/22's were tuff, or just junk! I've got an old old Marlin 22 that I think needs to be retired. I've had to buy 3 different magazine tubes for it!! These ol mountain laurels will twist the tube and pull it out. You won't even know it's gone until you need it,lol! That's why I thought maybe the rotary clip might work Better, and bought me 1 extra.

Bill, they've been making the 10/22's for a long time. I've got one that I've played with a lot. I worked on a buddy's and got the trigger pull down to 2.5 lbs with a rock, sandpaper and polish.

They're fun and easy and cheap to fool with. Enjoy !!

BB,
I've had 2 over the years and have never had any problems with them. The first one I had in the 80s seems to have been made to a higher standard than the one I currently have. My current one goes bang every time and it is plenty accurate for hunting.

Bill: I have one. Have not had any problems. I put a 4x 10 scope on mine. Helps to find squirrel. Eyes never much good and with age, they did not get better.

I had to retire my Marlin a couple years ago. Couldn't get it to stop jamming. Bought me a ruger 10/22, I don't care who shoots the gun, can't make it hit the same spot twice, don't care for it at all, but I still hunt with it, LOL.

It is the only 22 I will ever own. I can shoot coons toes off with a decent prop. When I was younger I shot close to a brick a week and have never had one misfire or jam. Only problem I had was my base screws got loose and when I didnt tighten them it wallered out the holes.

Thanks Guy's, As long as it don't misfire a lot, I'll be happy. I'm bad about buying the cheapest shells I can find! I'm like Gene, my eyes ain't what they use to be. Those cheap shells won't penatrate. I shot a coon 12 times one night last week, I could hear the thud at each shot. And you Know, they was only 1 hole in that coon!!!!!

CCI mini mags are some of the best bullets I have shot. They are a little pricey but just shooting out coons you dont need many.

I haven't tried em all but I've tried a few and I seldom have problems with misfires and when I do it's because I need to clean the gun. I usually buy the bulk ammo.

Clayton, do you use solid or hollow point? These are some tall tree's in WV. I was not kidding about those federal 22 shells from walmart. Some of them shoot hard and some just barely fires. You could hear them make the deep thud when they hit the coon! And the coon would just sit there and look at me! I'm gonna try some of the cci. I guess you do get what you pay for!!!! I think they were like 15.00 for 525 rounds. I ordered my slingmounts and the see thru mount for the scope. Can't wait to get it all set up so I can shoot it.

I have a browning 22 pistol and the only thing that won't jam in it is the stingers. Ive had problems with everything else I've tried.

Tracy, Probably a dumb question, but anywho! Is the mini-mag and stinger the same shell or is there a difference in bullet size? If I send my wife to get them, want to make sure she picks up the right ones.
