You know guy's, There is no way all the ammo producers have had major problems or ran out of supplies at one time!!!! I thought it was just cci at first, But it's all of them. Something ain't right!!! No walmarts seem to have any ammo. Even Cabella's say's their shells are on back order. They might not get our guns, but they sure can take most of our shells away. I even read somewhere that they were gonna start producing shell's with a shelf life of 6months. That way people can't hoard them up. Am I the only dummy that thinks this way? TANKER

It will be interesting to see how they make it with a shelf life. I didn't think gun powder expired in 6 months. If they come up with a alternative who's to say it will even last that long. Seems like there would be alot of inconsistants from one box to the next. What happens at the end of hunting season? Do we throw them away? In tn we gave more than 6 months from the end of deer season to the start of it again.

I believe there is a shortage because demand was so high due to all the attention in the media about gun control with the natural connection to ammo.

I think that when this frenzy runs its course the ammo and guns will show back up on the shelves.

If the ammo makers were being forced to makes radical changes to their manufacturing process, they would be hollering, I believe.

I hope you are right Troye, It's just hard for me to believe that all the manufacturers are unable to keep up with supply and demand. I could if it was just a few small dealers. My wife works part time at wallyworld, And when she asked them about ammo, they said they were tired of giving explanations and didn't know why they can't get any delivered.. And I really Hope you are right!!!!! TANKER

If you were a company that made widgets and usually made and sold 10 a month, and then all of a sudden you got an order for 100,000, you just might find yourself in a scramble. The ammo shortage is nation wide. I was in our local gun store last Saturday and it was elbow to elbow, no joke. Every AR and other semi auto type gun was gone. ALL THE RIMFIRE AND PISTOL AMMO AS WELL AS .223 IS GONE from most shelves. Sames goes for powder, primers, and many bullets. People go into a panic, real easy. This just goes to show what will happen if something really goes wrong. I'm not a survivalist or anything like that, but people do tend to panic at the smallest hint of danger. A couple of years ago we got 8 inches of snow, that is a ton for us. You would have thought the world was comming to an end. All the supermarkets were sold out of milk, bread, meat, water, and toilet paper! That was all for a place that hasn't had snow that laster for more that a day or two in the last 60 years. It was really strange to go into Safeway and not be able to find stuff you wanted. Two days later, the snow melted and the trucks got in and all was well. The same will happen with the guns and ammo, might be another 4 years, but it will get back to normal one day. Kids comming of age now will remember this time as the time when we only got 1 shot. They will say " my dad only gave us 1 bullet because they were so hard to come by".

I know I am buying a surplus of ammo for all the calibers I own. Especially my 22 as that is what I shoot the most of.

I started stocking up on bulk bricks of 22s when obama was first elected. I have thousands of rounds to keep me going. Plenty of 45acp, 9mm, 308 and 25-06 also. Not to mention the powder, primers, bullets and brass I've got stashed away with my reloading supplies. If my house ever burns, it will be a heard for a pretty good distance :D .

I agree with Troye, just panic buying wiping out the invertory. Personally, I'm glad that Diane Frankenstien finally introduced her bill to the congress. Soon it will be voted down and things can calm down.

Homeland security has enough ammo to fight the war In the mid east for 24 years. And what do they 12 tons of 22 ammo for?
What the British attempted to do at gun point is now done by men in black robes in courts of law .
