Nationalen Hauptsitz
Brunswick, Brunswick Bereich

Chairman of the Turcelak People's Party Bence Kádár-Relander sat in the chief conference room in the governing office of the nation, the Nationalen Hauptsitz. Built in the center of Brunswick after the revolution, the Hauptsitz was a mildly extravagant white building where all government, non-party activities took place. Mainly, it was a symbol of unity for the USST, as well as a residency for the Chairman and a meeting place for the Secretaries and foreign dignitaries.

"My Secretaries," the Chairman began. "My fellow comrades and upholders of the states of Torquelas, I thank you all for coming together. I have brought you here today to discuss the international atmosphere at the beginning of 2012, for 2012 is the year Torquelas must prove itself as a chief power within Khanalia.

"Most of the nations within the region we have no grievance with. The Nationalist Republic of New Erussia hold similar policies to us, and are a nation I personally would love to be allies with; together, we can be certain Eastern Europe is in good hands. Nations such as New Queensland and Maerie hold similar policies to us also, but are somewhat clouded by the allures of capitalism. To our south lies the Federation of Wolven Peoples; although we have no reason to be enemies with their nation, I do not trust their government, one that seems concerned not of its citizens, but of the corporations that call the nation they rule home. We will be watching the Federation very closely.

"No, these nations are ones we have no history with, with whom we have nothing to fight. The terror, the dictator of this region, the nation of a rich and oppressive minority of whom I speak is the Kingdom of Emilia. During the so-called Baltic Spring, the uprising of the Turcelak People's Party and the United Socialist States of Torquelas, the people of Emilia rose up to fight King Joseph and his tyrannical rule, only to be smacked back down again by the malevolent, bourgeois dictator and his very substantial army. You may not see them as a threat as of yet, but believe me, the mood amongst the powerful peoples of Emilia is dark, and their darkness is directed towards our great state. They are nation we must regard with great care, and one that we may face in bloody war in the near future. We cannot allow such a dictatorial, bourgeois, capitalist scum of a nation continue to oppress its peoples as it does so today.

"But we can't do it alone. Our number one priority for 2012 will be ascertaining which nations are our friends, which are our enemies, and which nations must, like Emilia, be swept off the face of Khanalia. Let us bide our time, invite various diplomatic parties to Brunswick, see how they react to our movements and decisions, see what happens if a regiment happens to accidentally stray across their border," the Chairman smiled, some would say slightly manically. "The time for international change is afoot. The people of Torquelas have been liberated; now what of the others?"

Phanagoria, the Khanate of Wolven Peoples

"Torquelas is one of the fastest changing places in Khanalia," Diplomat Merkel began. "We are a young nation, only united a year ago, but one with rich culture and a fast-improving life. Myself and Diplomat Adamkus live in Brunswick, the capital and most populous city of the country, a sophisticated, culture-rich, city of modern skyscrapers alongside 17th century converted apartments. The people there are all well-educated, knowledgeable and enjoy a safe, crime-free life, with enough money to be comfortable, but have traditionally never had a major reverence for money."

The young woman took a sip of the milky Airag, looking thoughtfully out the limo window for a second before nodding and continuing. "Since the people were liberated from the oppression of the bourgeoisie and the corporations that practically controlled the several nations that now make up the United Socialist States of Torquelas, we have been trying to bring up the standard of living to that of Brunswick. Schools were built all over, even in the isolated Spesierland Bereich, traditionally a place of much poverty and antique ways of life, and the Turcelak People's Police and its influence have spread region-wide, keeping the people of some of the less modern and rich cities safe from the crime that ravaged them."

Here, she took another sip of the Airag. "Modern healthcare is available all over. At schools, we teach kids the truth of what happened during the revolution, even the atrocities that some, regretfully, higher members of the movement committed. We are still struggling with a national culture, but this is not an issue for us; Eastern Europe has always, traditionally, been a very secular area, and even under the Mongol rule people managed to get along whilst maintaining their own personal cultures, a skill I think is integral in our day.

"Life is getting better for all, a lot better, and it's not just the Party members who enjoy a good lifestyle. And things are still improving, always improving," Diplomat Merkel changed the subject. "Now, before we get to the hotel, is there anything in particular you wanted to discuss? Because a major point of ours was the economic situation in the Khanate, particularly your tolerance of free market capitalism. Realistically, the Party cannot imagine our two nations being allies if such an economic structure is adamantly cemented in your policy; we believe that people who live under such a system are oppressed, and must be liberated."

Besançon, Maerie

The Emilian Army had pushed through the Alps and were now moving through the freezing cold along a large road. They were transported by APCs and Jeeps, and accompanied by tanks and artillery transports. So far, they had met little resistance; a few regiments had ambushed their large convoy just over the Alps, when the foot soldiers had merged with the motorized soldiers, but it had been clumsy, and was decimated quickly by an onslaught of rifle fire and artillery attacks. The Maerien government had made no contact with its Emilian counterpart yet, and any major resistance on its way had not yet arrived. However, the Army was sure they would meet a defence when they arrived in Besançon.

Kuchu was tempted to slap her round the face when Merkel callled Free Market opressive. Did this woman even bother to look deeeply into the truth or just eat the propaganda she had obviously been fed? Judging by how she talked about Torquleas, probably the latter. Kuchu calmed himself before laughing.
"Oh, how little you must know. The idea of Free Market is people work for themselves. It is actually the opposite of oppresive. The clue is in the 'Free' part! Our system allows people to make their own choices and sometimes people get those choices wrong. For those who cannot make ends meet we provide basic welfare, but anymore would make people reliant on us. I can see the good points of socialism, but you are obviously miguided. Anyway, your hotel is just round the corner. We can let you sight see for a few days, or arrange the meeting for tomorrow. Your choice.?" Kuchu smiled politely.
"So, what do you think?" The limo turned the corner onto a stretch of road leading down the coast. Golden beaches glistened in the sunlight and waves rippled the sand. Kuchu sipped his Airag before awaiting a response.

Kumi, Slovenija

Stoyan aimed carefully. The scope on the sniper rifle was adjusted until he could make out the hairs on his target's head then... BANG! The mortar crewman slumped to the ground. His crewmates stood confused for a moment, giving Stoyan all the time he needed. Both were despatched in a split second, leaving one less mortar post.

Early in the morning, the reinforcements had arrived. 1,000 Tanks entered Kumi, supported by 30,000 Infantry and 100 Artillery guns. The entire ground army was destroyed in a few hours and a short air battle left the miniscule Slovjan air force shattered. Only an Elite Sniper Guard and 1,000 Infantry were left to dispose of the last few mortar teams.

The war had moved onto Slovenija's capital city, Maribor.

10 miles south of Maribor, Slovenija
An explosive before Ogyan, sending mud flying into the air. He heard the soldiers around him attach their bayonets and copied the action. Ognyan suddenly knelt with the rest of his row and released a short barrage of fire. Mortars fired behind him and bombs fell from the sky in front, everything synchronised. Slovjan screams echoed throughout the woods. Then, with a cry, Ognyan leapt to his feet and charged. He sprinted at the Slovjan lines, bayonet in front and still firing.

The method of warfare was old-fashioned, but it fulfilled the simple purpose of a quick battle. The same charge had been repeated twice already that day, forcing the Slovjan army back 15 miles until Maribor was on the horizon. The original army of 10,000 Slovjans had been broken down to roughly 6,000, while the Wolven army had only sucombed to 150 casualties.
