European Senior Vice President, Jens Uwe Intat told MCV that he is certain that at some point Battlefield will overtake Call of Duty.

"Certainly. The only question is when that day will be, and for me, the sooner the better."

"With Battlefield 3 we have a superior games engine and a top notch product. We are convinced that we will, in fact, have a better product than our key competitor in the space. We think this is the perfect year to gain back market share."

He then went on to claim that Battlefield 3 is EA's "champion" for this year.

Of course EA has.. just ask them. LOL What else would the publisher of the game say.. "ooh I think we'll be a really good second choice to COD"?

I think it may actually shift for PC. Actually treating PC like it's own platform is going to go a long ways with the community. The PC COD community.. not so much. We've been the red headed stepchild for a while now. They forgot that all those innovative and cool ideas they keep incorporating into the game used to come from our platform. Now they've removed so much of what we used to do as a community, and the community is looking for something better.

I think if the game is actually superior, the community will follow. However, if it's a big let down like MOH, expect to be playing COD this fall.

Activision thanks EA for 'helping to build Modern Warfare 3 hype'

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg says EA's intense focus on taking down Call of Duty is only helping to build public awareness of Modern Warfare 3.

EA's talked up its chances of stealing Call of Duty market share this year with Battlefield 3, with CEO John Riccitiello going as far as to say DICE's game has been "designed to take down" its rival.

And while Hirshberg acknowledges Call of Duty faces "tough competition" every year, he told MCV that Activision's more focused on producing a quality product than on what its rivals are doing.

"We don't pay much mind looking at what the competitors are doing. I know they are focused on us... well that's all I'll say." Except it wasn't all he said.

 I believe EA for one reason only, the FPS thats been published through them has actually been FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS, I mean the FPS aspect in a war type game.

Think about it, you put on a much larger battlefield, strategy is more useful, you dont have the BS you see in COD games like Second Chance and all. Plus Sniping is actually viable.

Battlefield BC2 is a good example and most likely when things started shifting, it may shift completely at BF3 launch. EA also has a good strategy of putting BF3 out before MW3. I think BF3 is going to kill not the entire COD franchise, but kill the franchise on the IW side.

 ya this is a rubbish post i made after smoking too many herbal sticks, but i DID see a tdemo of MW3... its so cheese. its exactly like mw2 which was like mw1. i shared the link with skippy... break it down, skip! (show them the link)
