There's pretty much to choose from.
Currently being considered/looked into:

  • Resource uploading system

    • Download page.
    • Upload function.
    • Advanced resource search (theme based).

  • Chat Room

    • Hopefully integrated with the site if I can do it.
    • AJAX being the second choice so far.

  • Reputation System

    • 24 hour wait between reputations.
    • Automatic database and installation.
    • Reputation number in post details and profile.
    • Reputation Reasons.
    • Reputation History.

  • Sidebar

    • Show/Hide.
    • Recent news and updates.
    • Active topics.

So what would you like to see? And what do you have to say about what's being considered/already implemented?

I didn't post any restrictions. Just those that exist in the currently known rep system.

On a side note, a badge of respect seems to hold more punch than 3000 rep or w/e.

Except that it could be revoked if needed if and when people abuse THAT too.

For Glory I'll fight.
I'm smelling that Krad wants another rep on hive.

Anyway you still know it if they guy really deserves those high rep or not depends on what you seen on his performances.

But just leave that rep alone. Why do you need rep if we're only a small community and mostly, saying thanks is enough if someone helps you on a small forum. Or just apply a like button if you agree on someone's post.

The only thing I have against that is the rep system itself.

Unless we're implementing it differently, I suppose we can't-

  • rep the same guy twice in a row, irrespective of the time between consecutive rep-ping.
  • rep as many as we want to per day.
  • having to spread rep before passing it on to someone you want to give it to.

And so on... My point is, the rep system contains constraints to prevent abuse, and to me, those constraints seem unwieldy. Like getting rep on hive for nothing, except someone wanted to spread it around. That really gets my goat.
I didn't think we were talking about the Hive's rep system. The rep system I would suggest would have not only a mod that keeps an eye on it to make sure people don't just go on rep sprees, but also that kind of regulates it. Not only that, but I would also make the rep you need for badges, etc., much higher. Like, let's say on Hive you would need 100 rep to get a badge, well, here I would say you need about 500. Just an example, not really what I want. I think a rep system can work if regulated. You could even have the mods be the ones giving out the rep if you so desired.

A separate reputation moderator to approve and finalise every last bit of rep given?
Yow.

Isn't a rep badge sort of a tautology? I mean, bitch the respectful user in question already has 500 reputation; if that's a merit in itself then what good does the badge serve?

We need a recent update thingy like we had at WCU. The bit on the home page under your profile picture where it said posts since last visit. That was super helpful.

Yeah, especially seeing that we're on foreign grounds at the moment, it's a little hard to navigate and all that when we haven't gotten used to it, so that little box would definitely help here in the beginning.

For now, we do have the option of looking at unread replies to our posts. Down on the right, there.

Or go to the site footer on the index page and hit "Active Topics". I am considering a sidebar though which may or may not feature something like that.
