WELCOME TO ROKUGAN

This forum based Role Playing site incorporates everything from the 2nd Edition version of the L5R paper & dice RPG, and places it into the forum-based roleplaying format to allow players from across the globe with different schedules (and time zones) to take part in a great fantasy epic.

Characters are created in the same point-buy system provided in the RPG books, and while the same free-flow format of the forum shall display the setting, dice will also be used in determining skill/attribute checks, combat, and other random fate factors.

If you are not interested in using the dice, preferring only a play-by-post format of roleplaying, you may create a Minor Character, who will have less of an effect on world events and will not be part of the Main Party.

*** The Emperor's scribe has announced the witness of the Cherry Blossom's first fall, marking the occasion of the beginning of Autumn. *** With the announcement of Autumn, many around the Empire are already thinking about (and even packing travel provisions for) this years Winter Court. The ascenion of Hantei XXXVIII is to be officially celebrated with a series of mental and physical contests, with nezurami prizes relative to the trial itself being awarded. An individual samurai may only enter in to one category. The finale shall be a great game of 'Capture the Banner', in which the Great Clans shall choose representatives to participate in a limited skirmish that can have only one victor. Ranks allowed participation are unlimited from the lowest bushi to Clan Daimyos themselves! *** Ask your local merchant what comfortable yet stylish kimonos are expected to be seen on the floor of Winter Court this year! *** The Scorpion Clan holds Beiden Pass! A skirmish between the Crane and Lion clans was met with surprise as the Scorpion Clan joined the fray unannounced. Crane and Lion tensions kept them at each others blades throughout the skirmish, and the Scorpion were able to capitalize. Strangely, there were few casualities, and the Scorpion allowed all Crane and Lion bushi to return home with the announcemnt that all trade and travellers shall be welcomed through the pass for a very low and reasonable tax rate! The rate, however, has not been specified... *** Heavy winter storms predicted by Phoenix elemental masters, who say the Fortunes and kami themselves have been intense in recent weeks. ***
