Lesson Four: Realism Realism is one of the most underrated aspects of RPing, yet one of the most critical. Common sense dictates that characters are not immune to injury. If I prick you, you will bleed. If I stab you, you just might die without medical attention. If you assault a massive reptile with sharp claws and lethal teeth: you will get hurt. READ: Making your character exhausted from it is no excuse to instantly and easily dispose of something dangerous. Also, on the same note, if you get shot or slashed: you will not simply walk away. I don’t care how tough you think your character is, bullets induce blood loss and can tear muscles with the slightest of movements. Lacerations commonly include damage to tendons or muscles. Bottom line- if you get to intimate with a sword or gun: get comfy in the infirmary, as you’ll be there awhile. Environment is also a vital part of RP. It is a simple as where you are, and it makes a massive impact on the game. We are in the world of Vev, with its separate trends and outlooks. Things that may be common place for us are unheard for them. For a simple example, think of the time period. Now, do you think you would hear the word “twerk” uttered even once? No. That is just one example, but it proves the point admirably. A few things you should not find in Vev: Foot Locker AT&T Gatorade Will Smith What does this mean to you? It’s a simple as keeping everything relevant to the environment and in a believable fashion. |
