You'll have to never get a new game. Cause some future games, normally the really good ones, require you to update before playing. |

Yeah, even no name games like Blast Works require you to update. |

thats fine, because I only get a new game every few months if I'm lucky. And by new, I mean "Wii game I haven't played before." The next "new" game I'm pretty sure I'm getting is gonna be Star Wars:The Force Unleashed. |

Well, it turns out you can still upload games, just not with Twilight Princess. You can use the Homebrew channel. For some reason, the update doesn't delete this. Also, the creators of the hack are working on other games to do this on. |

^ No other game exploits will be able to manipulate saves to work, though. That may prove to be a very big problem. Every game out right now, I would assume, does not have this update. That means you should be totally safe to play them. Again, Custom Firmware will likely be created as a response to this. It won't cure the problem for people with 3.3 or higher, but people who stuck with the lower version or got their Wii's before the 3.3 ones they'll be selling would be able to play these games that require mandatory updates. That is the point of custom firmware. If you're on the fence and don't know what to do, just know that you might want to wait it out. If custom firmware isn't released any time soon, then go ahead and update if you want, but it may very well pay to practice some patience. |

Be careful Juni, the homebrew channel uploader could brick your Wii. |

As with the PSP, if you are involved in homebrew it is best to keep yourself informed to prevent a brick. I myself have a Pandora Battery for my PSP, so I have ways to recover that system from anything but a permanent brick, and I don't like to mess with stuff that can do that. The Wii however, is not so easy to unbrick. Do be careful and tread carefully. Anybody with the Homebrew Channel can probably delete it and upgrade without a chance for a brick, that's what's been said. There have been some exceptions, but overall the team that worked on the homebrew channel were careful and kept this sort of possibility in mind when they designed it. Good news though, for anybody who has already updated and regrets it, there's something in the works on Wiibrew. The description is pretty technical, but this excerpt should expain it all well-enough: "Congrats to tmbinc and tehpola for finding a combination of two bugs in the code that Nintendo added that — when combined — allow us to fool their check into ignoring the TP hack. More info will be forthcoming — I still wouldn’t rush to update my system, anyway." We're lucky that an exploit has been found. However, like they said, this isn't a reason to update your system. Just ignore this unless you're already at 3.3. I will be posting this update on the first post in this topic. |

Thanks DTZ, even though I went ahead and updated, it'd be cool to be able to take advantage of the potential homebrew that they release in the future('sides emus and piracy like you've said before). |

http://www.advancewarsnet.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34379 Don't mean to advertise, but it'd be better than just copying and pasting his excerpt. So there is a workaround in the making, but it's publicly unreleased at the moment. |
