Title: Call of Duty: World at War
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii
Genre: First person shooter, tactical shooter
Created by Treyarch (Also created Call of Duty 3, Spiderman: Web of Shadows, and Call of Duty: United Offensive expansion pack)
Rating: 9
ESRB: M, for Blood, Strong Language, and Violence.

Storyline: 10. The story itself was absolutely flawless, gritty, factual, insanely violent, gory in some moments, but just plain amazing, the story was one of my favorite parts. You take the position of both Private Miller, an American soldier aiding the Navy in the taking of numerous Japanese islands, as well as Private Petrenko, a Russian soldier who takes part in the capture of Berlin. There are 14 campaign missions in all, 7 of each. They're scattered around, and at one moment you'll be controlling Miller and mowing down waves of crazy-ass Japanese, then suddenly you'll switch to Petrenko, crawling through Berlin with a wounded sniper at your aid. The game really hits home, depicting the true brutality and gore of the war. The very first level, the very first thing you see is your fellow soldier being tortured by a
Japanese, before the group is ripped to shreds by your squad. I certainly had fun with the campaign for a while. It took me a few days to beat it, and I died a LOT, and this was only on recruit. It took me an hour to beat the first level on veteran, the hardest setting.

Gameplay: 9. You get the true experience with the Wii Zapper, I certainly have the most fun with it. Overall, the gameplay is great, with a few minor flaws. Sometimes the AI can be stupid, even on Veteran, which is annoying at times. Another thing that annoys me is the Wii's lack of co-op compared to the 360, PS3, and PC versions. The Wii has "squadmate" mode, where your friend piggybacks on your screen, doesn't actually control his own character but can pick up his own ammo and shoot Nazis and Japs. Not much of a true co-op, just more of a "why the hell not, lets do it" sort of thing. It adds to the appeal, but not by much. Another annoyance is the lack of Zombie mode (only missing on Wii) where you destroy wave after wave of Nazi Undead. A minor annoyance, but nothing hard to deal with. The experience you get with the Wii Zapper more than makes up for it.
The enemies range in tactics, where the Germans form organized assaults and attacks, whereas the Japanese ambush the hell out of you. There's a scene in the first level where they "play dead" and then jump up, tearing you to pieces with their handy type 100 (my fav weapon in the game btw). Expect organized attacks and grenade wielding Japanese jumping out of spider holes. But above all, expect a hell of a lot of mayhem, and a great time with it.

Graphics: 9.5. The Wii surprised me with the graphics. Best looking shooter on the Wii to date. Never has a Wii game seemed more realistic or grittier. Using the cod4 engine, you can still shoot through walls as well as other things, something I never expected to see on the Wii. All I can say is- F*** you Conduit, your graphics are a worthless hunk of shit next to World at War. Even for the Wii. There certainly is gore, and when you shoot an enemy, his head blows apart and you can see chunks of brain matter and bone in ever direction.

Online: 9. Online is a great experience, whether playing with friends or just with strangers. All the elements from Call of Duty 4 are there, including perks, levels, upgradeable weapons, create-a-class, and challenges. You can get prestige mode, where you can either choose to keep your level and souped up weapons- or start over with a new Custom Class slot- this time with 2 weapons slot. That's right, a sniper AND a shotgun. Get prestige more and more and you'll end up with a Submachine gun, Plain old machine gun, sniper, rifle, shotgun- and to top it all of, your trusty Magnum too.
One problem with the online is lag. But for a Wii shooter, it suprisingly is low. Sometimes the servers lag, or you get a player with a crappy connection, but above all, most people have 3-4 bars. I experience very little lag, even with my connection.
My personal favorite part of online are the dogs. If you get 7 kills and no deaths, you call a pack of rabid dogs to rip your hapless enemy to shreds. I got a 16 kill streak in 30 seconds from the dogs, and only that because the game ended. They're fucking powerful, that's all I can say. The recon and artillery is still there, thankfully, with a 3 or 5 kill streak. All in all, Online is a great experience, and while not everything is perfect (or as good as the other consoles) once again, the Zapper experience makes up for it.

Replay Value: 10. You'll be playing the game for a long time, just to get your weapons upgraded, get that prestige you want so bad, beating the campaign on veteran, or just raping people online. Garunteed any fan of FPS or just people who love good games, will like this game.

***You have to have the Zapper. I cannot stress this enough. You don't HAVE to, as in it isn't required to play the game, but for 20$ (got it from my friend for free) it adds so much experience to the gane that its more than worth it. ***
