Captain N The Game Master

This game is one of the best DS games I've played.

Story:

The demon lord Dracula has been sealed away and the vessel he was trapped in was sent to to an organization called Ecclesia. Everyone knew one day Dracula would return, so they tried to find a way to destroy him. the Belmont clan has lost its power to resist darkness and the holy whip is lost. An old man named Barlowe comes up with a way to defeat Dracula. They'd harness Dracula's own power against him, Dominus, to destroy him. Shanoa was chosen as the one to hold its power, along whit being able to absorb other glyphs as well. But during the ritual for her to be able to wield Dominus, Albus, a mentor of Barlowe and a brother to Shanoa attacked, stealing Dominus and Shanoa's memories and emotions.

Now there are many plot twists, but I won't spoil that for you.

Gameplay:

Unlike past games you don't harness a physical weapon. Shanoa actually absorbs glyphs, which you'll find from enemies and around the map, and use them in battle. Glyphs can range from a mere rapier to firing powerful lasers. You go around areas fighting enemies, rescuing villagers, and searching for items on a quest to retrieve Dominus. You choose an area on a map and must attempt to find an exit, which will unlock more areas on the map. Most areas have bosses, but they aren't always at the end of the stage like you might expect. You will also gain abilities like double jumping, flying, sling shotting of a magnet, etc. With the wide variety of glyphs and enemies, this game is truly a piece of art. You'll also enjoy watching the unique death sequences of each enemy. This game can be hard. In fact I hear a lot of people find it hard. Luckily there is leveling, so if you find it to hard you can always level up. You shouldn't have trouble if you can beat Mega Man 9.

Sound/Music:

What's a game without good audio? Not this. You instantly fall in love with the music. Its so crisp and clear, its just amazing! Even the game Over music. Which you'll here a lot. There's a wide variety of sound effects as well. None of them get on your nerve or are annoying in the slightest bit. Another thing I like is the voice acting. Not a lot of DS games I've played have it. They had it in The World Ends With You and I was amazed. But this is epic voice acting. When you first hear Shanoa say 'Go to hell', you will get it.

Final:

Overall this is an amazing game. If you've never played a Castlevania game, get it. If you have, get it. Unless you don't like Castletroid, which is a nickname given by a bunch of fan boys, because it has a lot of traits like a metroid game.

Final grade: 9/10
