Fallout 3; War. War Never Changes.

So, i'm assuming most of you have heard of Fallout 3. Bethesda's little experiment at bastardizing a franchise, and an oblivionization of a rather nice series.

First, this game is GOOD.

Yes, this does murder Fallout. It kills it, has necrophilic moments with the corpse, and lights it on fire. If pokemon became a 3rd person action Rpg, it'd be like fallout 3. Fallout (was) an isometric series, and a damn good one at that. it (had) excellent Crude humor, funny characters, and damn annoying battle mechanics. (anyone who's played Fallout 2 with Marcus in their party knows how i feel...)

Fallout 3 is, quite simply, Oblivion: Post-Apoc wasteland.

Which is a good thing.

First, i'll start with my specific problems with the game..

1.) it rapes Fallout.
Children are unkillable, and anyone who's ever played Fallout 3 knows how DAMN ANNOYING they are.
The game isn't quite as funny as the other two, but that's to be expected. There's also a large number of small changes (Laser Minigun is a "Big Gun" instead of an "Energy Weapon", and other stuff)

2.) It's Dark as Shit (at times)
Beth did a bad job making the brightness level good. your flashlight sucks major ass, and it's easier to jack the brightness up to see..

3.) Everyone's too happy
If your skin fell off, and you started being persecuted, would you be happy? No? Neither should the Ghouls, who are an incredibly happy bunch of Zombies.

4.) The ending sucks.
Spoiler: click to toggle

5.) The map SUUUCKS.
it's.. awful. actually, i dislike it so much, it's just bad. The map is in a two-tone GREEN AND BLACK. you ever tried to read neon green on black? Yuck!

Here's a picture of it. Mind this one has better gridlines and such, but it's not too much better

It's a link, for those of you who don't like images in posts

The map

Specific Likes

1.) Hella Addicting- Nuff Said. you'll want to play it a LOT. 'cuz it's that awesome.

2.) Three Dog (and killing him)
Because one dog's Not Enough... And Two's Too Low. IT'S THREE DAAAWG! he's cool for a few hours. Then you'll want to shoot him. Do it, you get the best hat in the game, and an awesome, bored new DJ.

General Ratings

Graphics= 9/10.. slight bit of.. Bleck. Too much dreariness. Otherwise nice.

Sound= 7/10. Good, but they cannot have it equal. don't play it loud, lest a Yao Guai Come up and wake up your entire country.. Otherwise nice, good ambient music, but some bits are too freaking loud.

Story= 4/10.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Gameplay= 9/10. Awesome, but nothing is perfect. As close to perfect as it can get

OVERALL- 8/10 (Amazing)
Good Graphics, sound, gameplay, and memorable parts make it good. Shitty Story and Annoying AI make it slightly less than my best rating of a 9.

There's a freaking spoiler tag?

well now, that makes me seem stupid..

oh, and i know my criticism of the story is insanely unfair. Bethesda used to make some awesome stories, and they've slipped with their last two games..

I hated fallout 1 and 2. Extremely boring. I actually thought it was just nostalgia that made everyone like them so much, but according to your chatango profile you're 14, so I doubt you were crawling up to your computer to play fallout 2 the first day it came out. :kirby:

See, don't doubt chatango's age system just because it thinks you're both old men.
