This is a review of the wii remake (now dubbed Wiimake) or Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

Story: 8/10

You are a kid named Klonoa ( <- see avatar) who has gone out to research a recent crash in the vicinity of his village (Breezegale). You and your childhood friend Hewpoe go to check it out and end up getting caught up in a quest to stop Ghaddius from turning the world into an ever lasting nightmare, and rescue the songstress Lephise who will revive the world with her song of life. Along the way, you will meet a bunch of interesting characters and experience epic plot twists that made people cry when it was first released. :ese: Don't bother guessing what it is, you'll never get it right.

Audio: 9/10

I love the music to this game; the melodies fit the levels majestically and you could only wish that you could unlock a music player so you could listen to them at any time. Oh, wait. You can! There are two language settings: English and Phantomilian (sp?).The English voice acting fits for everybody except Klonoa and most people favor the Phantomile language over it. Klonoa's English VA sounds similar to Sonic's (except better), but that doesn't fit him at all. The WAHOO at the title screen is always in English and I don't like it all. Phantomile language is gibberish, like in Okami, but the voices fit incredibly well.

Gameplay: 9/10

The rules are quite simple. You grab enemies by shooting wind bullets out of a ring Klonoa is always donning. Holding an enemy doesn't slow you down, and you can throw the enemy forward, backward, at the screen or into the background. If you are holding an enemy while in mid-air and hit the jump button again, Klonoa will use the enemy as a platform to jump off of and perform a double jump.Along the way in levels you will find green and blue gems, and when you collect 100 Klonoa will gain another life. There are 150 in each stage and how much you have in a stage determines whether there is a gray, green, or blue crystal above that level on the world map. To get all 150 gems in a stage you will have to take full advantage of the mirror fairies, which will temperarily double the worth of gems you collect. There are also 6 villagers in each stage that you must rescue in order to unlock a secret bonus stage.

Difficulty: 4/10 - 9/10

The difficulty of the main game is quite easy and you'll find yourself racking up a lot of lives. But those lives will be short lived once you beat the main game. In reverse mode there are hidden challenge rooms in each level that will take quick reflexes, a keen eye for detail, and perfect timing. They will make you cry. I once lost 40 lives on one and still haven't beaten it yet.

Replay Value: 7/10

The first playthrough will only last about 5 hours. After you beat the game you unlock a lot of nifty extras: reverse mode, movie player, extra costumes, and time attack. If you save all 72 villagers, you'll unlock an extra level and when you beat that you'll unlock the aforementioned music player. While playing through the game again backwards might seem like a stupid mode, it is quite enjoyable. The main reason there is replay value in my opinion is because the gameplay and presentation has so much aesthetic value and is generally so fun, I just keep finding yourself wanting to play it again.

Final comments:

While the game is short, it is a beautiful work of art and it is worth every last penny of its $30.00 price tag. If you dislike replaying games then give it a rent and if you hate the somewhat cutesy facade it throws up, give it a chance anyways; it is absolutely worth it.

Final Rating: 8.5/10

I was going to buy this game last week but I decided to go with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time first, though I plan to get this game sometime in the near future, it looks really good.

Its a steal at $30.00. Its a shame that Namco never advertises anything.

I do. If people don't buy games companies will stop making games. People who pirate them are killing video games.

Piracy is killing the PSP and it's not helping the DS either, but at least they're surviving.
