The story is really slow and doesn't seem very important to the series overall plot at first, then you get to the final world and it just dumps a ton of vital shit on you like (and this is some seriously spoilery shit so don't look if you intend to play the game) Spoiler: click to toggle nobodies have hearts riku is a dream eater lea is a keyblade wielder xemnas' tricked the organization into thinking they had no hearts, his real plan was to give everyone in the organization the same heart and minds as xehanort xigbar and saix are already xehanort'd the guy in the brown coat at the start of KH1 was xehanort It was a lot to take in all bunched into the last couple hours of the game. Also I love time travel in video games, I'm one of the few who plays all of the games in the series obsessively enough to have a good grasp on the overall plot without getting confused, so time travels A-OK with me. Also Ansem the Wise has the most friendly and calming voice ever oh my HMS. I wanted to stay with him at the end of the game. All of the bosses in the world that never was were really over whelming which was like my only problem, I ended up having to grind a lot but I went through the whole game pretty under levelled anyway. how bout dat lea how bout dat xehanorts evil plot how bout dat kairi how bout dat fuckin second to last boss after you take out all the health and then suddenly time shenanigans and I got raped

Also, I fucking love Ansem the Wise also. Especially in KHII when he was voiced by fucking Christopher Lee, but the dude who replaced him is totally convincing in his work. Also did you unlock the secret movie? If so: Spoiler: click to toggle I was SLIGHTLY disappointed by it, because as soon as they started talking about the Seven Keyblade Wielder's of Light and they could only think of six, I instantly thought of Kairi and her keyblade burst in KHII, so the "twist" DUN DUN DUUUUUN moment of her being summoned by Yen Sid wasn't very shocking. But it was still cool! And just to be vague. Kingdom Hearts III better be like Birth by Sleep and have multiple playable characters ;___;, they can't squander all of these characters.
