Update 15 is now live, and music is now dead... I've done some solo testing this morning and in my opinion, its pretty well screwed. I have only tested solo pieces so far but will do further band testing multiple parts this afternoon once I can turn my speakers up. So far though, this is what I've found. The volumes are completely wonky now all across the board. There are little clicks associated with certain notes that make most of my solo lute pieces unusable, however, not all of them, I have found a few that are at least still playable. These clicks are noticeable on bagpipes, horns, lutes from what I can tell so far. Clarinet is pretty much useless now for most songs, depends on the broken note and if its used. The over all sound quality is pretty poor in my opinion. As I said, will test more this afternoon and post again after doing some 6 parters. |

You know, the Devs and management ought to take a page from bioethics taught in medical schools: "Primum non nocere." "First, do no harm." They never should have added in a "fix" that breaks everything. Imagine the uproar if they did this to PvMP or Raids. In so many ways, I want what we had. Call this another heartbreak. |

Clarinet is certainly out until the hotfix. I did hear the "plunk" note on the lute, but many of my lute songs are uptempo, so it goes unnoticed. Haven't heard the clicks on the pipes yet, but I'm starting my 3tests now. |

Harp seems to have been brought up to "proper" levels. Lute seems over done dynamically. Theo seems improperly softer and with poor timbred notes on the last of the upper register.

I can't pick out anything "wrong" with the horn, other than aesthetically I prefer the old sample. Same with the pipes, though I thought I heard an off timbre note once. Can't find anything wrong with flute. Pibgorn actually has been improved, but still is wonky. Drums seem relatively unchanged. Edited by Lifimun, Nov 5 2014, 02:48 PM.

Preliminary verdict: I think it's workable, but hardly copacetic. If songs avoid the extreme upper register on Cl & Th, lute and harp are dropped in volume, with theo raised... the sound should be comparable.

Comparable? LOL. Correct me if I am wrong here, but wasn't the point of tinkering with the music system to make it better? Until the music system is finished, updates for broken notes etc, you can't make proper tools to make good sounding abc files. The old tools and ways of building abcs were workarounds for the incorrect dynamics and missing notes and broken ranges. Old abc files and old tools should have exposed those changes. Which it sounds like it did. You'll just have to let the tools catch up to the changes and start from scratch on abc files. |

Okay, here is my verdict. I do not hold anyone in LBC to my standard, nor expect them to understand what I am hearing and/or feeling, so I will make a video soon of one of the songs I've already posted on my youtube channel and let you all be the judge from my point of view. However, until this shitstorm of poo pie is fixed, I'm out. I refuse to do any more shows or craft songs with the following in mind. 1. The music doesn't sound the same to everyone but is obviously broken. It needs fixed. 2. The tools we use to make our music will eventually need to be updated which will put us that much further back. 3. It may not matter as Turbine may make so many changes that it kills our current songs as unusable forcing us to redo everything. 4. I'm pissed, very pissed, utterly steaming pile of crap mad......*throws tantrum and stomps feet.........pissed. If LBC wants to continue doing shows, that is on you, I will simply not do it at this present time. I put my post about this here and may post again as I've not said all I wanted to say yet. https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?558318-Fix-for-U15-Music-System-Date |

I'm with you fincin. I'm not gonna play bad music. seeing as how Bright Star is on hold, I'm gonna park Tiny till they fix it. hopefully # 3 on your list don't come to pass cause that could be the end period. anyways looks like I'll have time to work on my essences on Bonnie. and if i get jet to 100 before the fix is in I'll cancel my VIP. the only reason i hold on to it is rest xp for him. why would they release broken product? are they that dumb... seems so. |
