Well, there is certainly no point in fixing song files until they finish all the changes and updates anyway. Why go through all the work only to have to fix them again? Seems like an exercise in futility... Looks like I'll be back to watching Masterpiece Theater on Sunday nights... |

My take on the whole damned thing, and the endings it has brought:

I have been following threads on the LoTRO forums and here. Those who were around yesterday when we practiced know I'm upset that Turbine broke the music system. LBC doesn't just *transcribe* music and play it, we are innovators looking for ways to make new sounds like accordion, distortion guitar and drums that actually sound like drums. The whole balance of songs is shifted now and when you innovate to make new sounds or make existing sounds better, there is not much wiggle room. But whether a band innovates or not, balance is everything. Having the right instruments blending together to produce a wall of sound that mimics what you can hear in the real world is something I think most transcribers aspire to and many succeed at. Turbine literally blew up that foundation by destroying the balance of instruments. I'm sure Sauron is well pleased. "If they want music, make them work harder for it!!" Some bands are still playing and that is a good thing. My hats off to them for being able to adapt so quickly. However, that does nothing to change the fact that Turbine broke something unique to the gaming world and by doing that, broke the hearts of many people who invested time and effort into making Middle Earth a special place to be. I suspect there are going to be more bands than not who are unable or unwilling to adapt because honestly, why should they have to? A week or a month from now if/when this gets fixed, then they would just have to adapt again. That's a time waster pure and simple. I understand both sides of the coin - quit or soldier on. My heart wants to support LBC and try to be some kind of hero and play despite the changes. But after my own personal testing, it is a mountain I just can't climb. Turbine needs to fix the system, not me twist myself into a pretzel to adapt to an even worse system than before. Here is a comparison of before and after: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?558439-Music-dynamics-compared-post-U15 Edited by Fionwyn, Nov 6 2014, 09:53 PM.

Good or bad, we are done...I tried playing some tunes today and I'm totally blown out of the water by the awful sounds I was listening to...Some may say we didn't sound to hot to begin with maybe...Idk...All I know is I worked really hard to make 3 sound like more and now it's all ruined...Until something positive happens DisEnchanted is on vacation... |

Weet........ You guys sound awesome, most all of us were very impressed with how much quality music you put out with only three people. As for vacation, I think that is a common theme with bands right now. ~hugs~ |

Oh for sures Weet, you guys are great, and I can well imagine the effort it takes to make 3 sound so great. EMS carried on this week, though with just songs we'd tested with our alts, most with doubled flute parts to make up for the decreased volume it has suffered. I know for myself I had a couple ruled out with the dodgy clarinet note, and a couple of others that had sustain issues. As for NWB we've got our regular testing on (our) Sunday night. It's useless making any new songs at the moment, so we'll have to see if we've got enough old songs that might be ok for our next concert in a few weeks. It may well be a shorter concert than usual, shall have to see. For concerts beyond that, plans are certainly up in the air. |

Rewind. Play. Bass line calls the rhythm of the world. Lute and Harp take counterpoint melodies, Like a summer breeze playing in the trees. Drum sounds the heartbeats. Eyes close, lips find a smile, Swaying to the life in the sound. Dancers twirl, step to the notes - For a time, lost to the shared dream. It ends. Last notes hang in the air, like a lover too soon gone. The world holds its breath, Flute and horn go silent. Hush. The quiet is too loud. Echoes of dreams are not enough. Passions grow grey. Rewind. Play. |

As far as I'm concerned, Turbine completely dropped the ball one too many times. There was no QC on the patch - it was rushed - as the past few have been. Couple that with the rogue asshole GM and my patience bar is empty and it's got a REALLY slow cool down. So... I'm done. Fix the music? That's nice. Fix the griefing? That's nice. Hire some staff, put a QC focus back into place, and make good on past promises and MAYBE I'll think about tossing some money at the game again. As it stands right now? Nope. I don't pay for beta. |
