I know some people aren't happy...

Yep, I know some people aren't happy about the new music system and I know some of you out there are *only* continuing out of deference to your respective kins, bands, and friends in general.

The music isn't sounding as it used to and many of your songs you now consider *unplayable*. There are some problems with sounds and sound focus. Bands are folding and others are considering it. Seems a lot of doom and gloom once again.

Say what you will about the devs, about unnecessary changes, about warnings that went unheeded. Who can ever understand the minds of devs anyway?

For me, I made my position very clear to LBC and I'll restate it here for anyone who cares to read this post:

The first time around, the music update was shit and I was very vocal on the LoTRO forums for a rollback. This time, I don't hear shit, I hear a good faith effort on the part of the devs to do better this time. Is it perfect right off the bat? Nope. But it is unrealistic to have that expectation. At the very least, it is not shit it is simply *different*.

Is it a pain in the ass to have to redo songs? Yes? Is it a pain in the ass to have to wait for tweaks? Yes? But here's the thing, this music system update may not be everything *you* as an individual wanted, it may not have all the sounds or the flavor of the old music system, but it is workable. That is the major difference for me and why I am NOT going to throw in the towel - this new music system has *promise*.

It's all too easy to be negative and feel like Turbine took all your hard work and flushed it down the toilet. But the fact that they rolled back the first music patch and went back to work on it, speaks volumes to me as to their good intentions (even IF the devs managed to push things out too early once again for everyone's taste).

I would encourage everyone who is grappling with the new system to at least give it a chance, not give up after only a few days of it being released. I am not going to push for a rollback this time. I am not going to post on the LoTRO forums and get into another ugly, bullshit waste of my time and energy. Rather, I am posting here in the hopes that some of you reading might make an attempt to look on the bright side - you figured out hacks to make new sounds before and you *can* do it again.

There are no guarantees in the life of any game. We've all seen hard work get flushed by changes devs make. But in the case of making music - there is ALWAYS another song to transcribe and there is ALWAYS a chance that this system is going to be better than what we had.

I am going to be optimistic and hope for the best. I would encourage the rest of you to do the same, not for my sake, but for your own. To which I say, *hugs*.

The thing is, we had a working music system taken away from us and they gave us one that isn't ready for primetime. They pushed it out over the objections of the testers who were telling them that it wasn't ready. So what do we have here? A half-finished update that no one wanted and a lute that is only good for a small percentage of songs.

Turbine took our lute and gave us a ukulele and told us to enjoy the new lute.

After helping Lilikate and TSO today, I'm more upset now than before. Only one of the few songs we tested was even playable. All of them sounded much better on the old system. If those odds are accurate and taken the count of my songs I think are still playable that I've tested, we are gonna lose at least half of our library if not a full two thirds or better. I posted in the forums a suggestion to a roll back and if they still want to work the music system, then keep it in beta until the testers say its ready. I've no real hope they will do that but that is my thought at this moment in time. If anyone even cares, the post is here:https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?562933-15-2-Player-music&p=7344375#post7344375

I myself am losing heart and though I am trying to stick it out for the sake of you all, I do not know if I have it in me. My music here has been my feel good about myself medicine, and I feel I am losing that. My current plan is to ride it out as long as I can but if I become overly depressed, then I will be shutting my music down for good and calling it a day.
~hugs~
