Did a little explorin' today, ran out of time and inclination! Not enough time to come up with any impressions. Need to do more combat and general game play and get a feel for things. Right now things just seem strange due to new interface, HUD, and a new to me, combat system, gotta get a feel for all that first. And some explorin'. |

i have played some..and i find it difficult yes...but challenging at the same time... I can say Chukk....it does get better... Fionwyn has been a tremendous help ...she has learned it quickly...i must admit her eagerness and excitement for the game is infectious! and she wants to help us all. Also, others in the game have been most helpful...so plenty of help to go around...(god knows i need it)...it takes me awhile...probably slower than most...but patience does pay off... i will still be committed to playing lotro...as i love the game and all the rest it has to offer...I've always been a Lotr junky..since i first read the books...back in the sixties...(ouch...dating myself here) So i will see you all in lotro...and would love also to see you in sota! All the best LBC! Nepenthor |

Greetings: One other item that may help us... a sota player recommended to me while playing: There is a website http://sotadb.com that has a database of information in the game...Recipes, crafting info, armor, weapons, maps, skills of magic and combat, etc. Check it out... All the best... Nepenthor |

Again, when they go from "Oh, man! We totes are going to have a super cool music system! Give us free $$$$$ for our early sub-optimal product!" to, "We have a band system with .midi integration and solid samples that is guaranteed to go live on our product by pain of lawsuit," give me a ring. Otherwise, I refuse to entertain crowdfunding in anyway. |

All I can say is good luck in SOTA as I just can't see upgrading all my hardware for an "if"... and dropping coin into a beta on the chance it will be everything I'd like it to be...I'm curious how the band thing will even work in SOTA since everyone is a paid account, as of now anyway, and being able to box is virtually a necessity in Lotro considering how people's schedules are... I'm thinking we'll just ride out the storm and cross our fingers that Turbine continues to make changes. If SOTA turns out to be wonderful down the road a piece we may give it a shot... |

I'm not joining for the music. I wouldn't have even joined if my brother hadn't sold me his old computer, which is an upgrade for me. My old computer didn't have the capacity. I've joined SotA for the fun of a new game to play and the interest in watching a game develop. I put down money with the full knowledge that I could just be paying to watch a game in development that might never release. I'm okay with that. And if it does end up with a decent music system, all the more power to it! I do think joining SotA strictly on the promise of a music system is silly, and really no different than staying on LOTRO at the promise of an upgrade to their music system. It's all waiting on promises. But to each their own! And thanks Nep! That was EXACTLY what I've been looking for! |

Oh, yeah. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure the game will be quite good in the end regardless of the features. And it is fun to be involved in alpha processes. I'm just a curmudgeon when it comes to paid early access -- which is something I'll likely have to evolve on eventually because it seems to be a model that is being embraced by both developers and communities. |

I will continue to give updates as I can. In the meantime, I understand hesitancy about crowd funding a game. In this case, I have placed my bet on Lord British, aka, Richard Garriott, who after 17 years STILL has a faithful following in Ultima Online. He is not a hack, he is pretty much a gaming legend. As for the music system, sure, we have a long way to go. This is pre-alpha. But the music system in on the schedule for June. They do monthly updates and are very good at communicating to the community what their intentions are. That alone is enough to make my investment worth it. I cannot say the same thing about Turbine and I am tired of their released shit. Can I guarantee what form the music system will take? No, I cannot. But I do know they have a piano and a lute already in the game. And this is listed in the release info below: Musical Instruments: Players can play music in the game with a variety of instruments. ---> Additionally, they have a radio in the game that actually plays the streamed music from the SoTA music channel. If they can do that, I believe they can do great things for the music the players want to play. Time will tell. RELEASE 19, June 25, 2015: Maps: We hope to get the Quel Region near final and start on the Midmaer Region. Spells & Skills: Chaos Magic and Ranged Combat will expand to include more spells, and more combos will come online. Housing: Property ownership will now incur regular fees (unless you are using a tax free deed from a pledge). If the fees are not paid, the player will lose their claim, and their possessions (including the house and decorations) will be moved to their bank. Note: We will provide more details about timing, payments, etc. near the end of R18. Crafting: Tailors and Alchemists will be able to begin crafting Taming Collars. We will also be adding more Cooking and Alchemy recipes. Pets & Taming: We will expand pet functionality to include the ability to tame creatures. Creatures: Dragons will begin appearing in Novia! Burninating will begin. All hail Trogdor, the Burninator! Combat: Guilds will now be able to declare war on each other. Customization: New armor and clothing items will appear in the game. Musical Instruments: Players can play music in the game with a variety of instruments. Player Owned Vendors: Players will now be able to place a Vendor on their property to sell goods. I tried it a bit a couple of days ago and I must say that I am not a fan of the combat system. If I wanted to play a card game, I'd play a card game. |

Also not liking how they are handling housing. There is a finite amount of housing available. Once all lots are filled, that's it. No one else can have a house. |
