Okay, now that I've had a chance to play it, Batman: Arkham Asylum is easily my game of the year. IMHO it's also the best game based on a comic book character to date for the simple reason that it did such a great job of putting you in Batman's shoes. The riddles were fun and the combat was free-flowing and addictive, plus they got a current (or at least very recent) Batman writer to do the story, which showed in many of the interactions with the Batman villains (the overarching storyline was a bit bland but there was enough atmosphere to make up for that).

DJ Hero is surprisingly good. I'd argue that while it's not as good as the Beatles Rock Band, it's a great game and definitely one of the better of last year. The fact that it also tries something different is also a big plus in my book.

I could say the same with you micks and your studios who need more work before they're considered legendary.

Oh, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories got Giant Bomb's GOTY. Uncharted 2 for Joystiq.

Ouch. American Silent Hill for GOTY?

And why does it not surprise me that Leon picked the comic book game...XD

Of course! Mainstream comics are all about satisfying fetishes, be they spandex or powerplay and Batman: AA satisfied my fetishes better than any other game this year (Fallout filled my fetish quota last year). The only way it could have been better is if there was a level where you played as Ivy and Batman beat you around a little - yeah dominate me Bats!

Here's hoping for DLC, Leon...

Oh, and I agree on Bats, but mainly because I always thought Rocksteady were well underrated.

Apparently it's also meant to be very good and does a lot of really interesting and experimental stuff, so if that's the case, then I say it deserves it. Though if I can recall right, wouldn't it be British Silent Hill?

I haven't had the chance to play it, but had I a Wii, I would most certainly give it a shot.

Will be getting that next year. Along with Tatsu.

And I've decided my GOTY for 2009 is Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Fuck that NSMB Wii bullshit, this is the true Mario game of 2009.
