I love Obsidian

Looks like you could be playing a member of the NCR, looking to help annex New Vegas for the Republic, or perhaps a resident of New Vegas who has to pick which side you'll be on...

Or another Vault Inhabitant just looking to see whats out there in the big bad world.

I found an interview at GameBanshee in which Chris Avellone stated that the "tranistion of Unreal to GECK was painless", which confirms that

a.) Obsidian are using GECK to create New Vegas, which is why its had such a short development time and

b.) Chris Avellone is now working on New Vegas, so this game will be full of fucking winsauce....and hopefully a shit ton of in-jokes from 1 and 2....since the Core of Obsidian worked at Interplay and Black Isle during the production of Fallouts 1 and 2.

OMG....if Obsidian pull both this and Alpha Protocol off, they will take over Bioware's crown as Best RPG Studio Ever.

Lol, that robot is doing such a shit job of dirt moving. Pre-rendered footage does nothing for me, but I had so much fun with fallout 3 that I'll get hella excited when we get closer to release.

Hey wow. That teaser was almost exactly like the teaser to Fallout 3. Literally - shot for shot.

That being said, it's cool I guess.

When was Bioware best RPG studio eva? Oh you mean Sonic Chronicles? :P

Anyway still halfway through FO3 which has been epic so far - haven't even started the dlc quests yet. Biggest dissapointment has been the lack of any real dialogue choices which are more than just black or white and from the articles about NV the reputation system looks like it will add a lot more depth to the NPC's and conversations will be influenced by all stats not just speech.

+ Tabatha :D

- Baldur's Gate
- Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
- Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Baal
- Neverwinter Nights
- Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
- Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
- Mass Effect
- Mass Effect 2
- Knights of the Old Republic.

Some of the best RPGs made =P

Granted, Black Isle were up there as well with Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment....and since most of them worked on Fallout: A Post-Apocalyptic Roleplaying game...

And now most of them work for Obsidian....=P

Either way, Fallout New Vegas is going to rock.....Original Fallout devs + Fallout 3's engine....dear lord its too much to think about.

yeah been told to check out Bladur's Gate but until FO3 was probably more into Eastern RPG's: Phantasy Star, Etrian Odyssey, Valkyria Chronicles - Pretty new to the whole RPG thing so happy to be edumacated. Still got Oblivion sitting there waiting for me to play it.... after FO3, Resonance of Fate (which I'm still trying to get my head around but enjoying it so far), Yakuza 3, Vandal Hearts, WKC... and MH3 :P

Fair enough, should've probably said Best Western RPG Studio.

Though there is a bit of repetition in some of the Characters and Story Arcs they use, like NWN and KOTOR have a lot of stuff in common.

And Dragon Age: Origins is ment to be the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate since they cant use the Forgotten Realms license anymore.

But yeah, Obsidian/Black Isle and Bioware have made some of my all time favourite games ever...and I just want Obsidian to cement itself as a leader in Single Player RPGs...because they guys they have there are some of the greatest.

If you're looking too enter more into western RPGs:

- Planescape: Torment
- Fallout 1 and 2
- Baldur's Gate I & II
- Knights of the Old Republic
- Nevewinter Nights and Expansions

Probably some of the best RPGs made.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Awakening, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe and pre-ordered Alpha Protocol...so Im right till New Vegas ;)

One thing I always liked about F3 was the ability to be neutral. So many games with "morality" require you to either be Jesus or Satan to progress. Hell, they even had the Negotiator perk to encourage it, and achievements.

It pissed me off a little that I managed to get the achievements at Lvl. 8 and 14, but somehow I became the messiah at lvl. 19, and didn't get my neutral achievement.

I've bitten my tongue until now, but here it comes. Nearly every game is an RPG by the very description of the term: Role Playing Game. So any game in which you take an active role in the character you play is an RPG. I know that for it to be considered one by most it must have stats, inventory, dragons or bishies. However, that's too specific a definition.

That's why I actually agree with dividing the styles themselves. JRPG is an RPG made generally with eunuchs in the main roles, a boring and poorly implemented combat system and many "KAWAAAAAAIIIII^_____^" moments. Segregating them defines the experience more than just saying RPG.
