Hey Guys, Upon watching last nights repeat and seeing the Dante's Inferno review which I had missed before, I realized something, who in their right mind would adapt Inferno into a hack & slash God of War clone? Don't you think it would be better suited as an RPG. Build it as if it was Planescape: Torment (or Planescape: Inferno?) you could go through Circle to Circle, picking up buddies (some may cross over, some may not) all the while having some really cool encounters. I may be thinking this simply because there is an unofficial planescape sequel that works on Dante's Inferno (Planescape: In the Footsteps of Dante) but I don't have Neverwinter Nights so I can't download and play ![]() Anyway, if anyone else has any suggestions, post em here. -Tomothy |

No. The Divine Comedy: Inferno would not work as a direct translation into a game, why? The poet was a weakling who cowered and fainted many times and at certain points had to be carried by the shade known as Vigil. It was Dante grinding some axes against 13th century Florentine politicians who had screwed Dante over. Morphing the lead character of Dante into a Crusader who had committed many horrible sins in the name of God under the assumption that he would automatically be absolved provided a much much better base for a game that was designed around a journey through the Circles of Hell. There was no combat of any sort in Inferno since Dante was protected from Up on High, so an RPG would be boring as shit frankly. I personally think that it worked brilliantly, and that changing up the story gave it more bite.....I actually cared what happened to Beatrice throughout the game and was actually willing Dante on to see if she would be saved. It worked brilliantly as a God of War-esque game....now that God of War is no longer a game series but rather a Genre ![]() And Planescape: Torment is one of my all-time favourite games, from my all-time favourite developer who was part of my all-time favourite studio. <3 Black Isle, but I still don't think this would've been as good as an RPG. However...The Divine Comedy: Purgatorio would probably be better suited to an RPG Also, this isn't really News, so much as a discussion topic =P So i'll shit it to the Genreal Gaming Thread, its where discussions like this one are more suited
