3D is lame - Ebert.

Am I the only one who hates this 3D crap? It's stupid. It's one of those things that future generations will make fun of because of how dumb it is. Seriously, the only people that like this crap are fucking retards who are...well, fucking retards. And we all know about the good ideas retards have.

Except the Virtual Boy. That shit was awesome.

I'm hoping that 3D remains to be just a cinema gimmick and doesn't insinuate itself into home entertainment. Even at the cinemas, I find that I have problems with picture clarity of 3D movies, especially near the screen borders. It makes my eyes hurt, and given how fucked they are already I don't want to put them under any more stress.

Gawd, now I feel old :P

3D is ok, but i won't be splurging so much money on it now. it's like the whole bluray and digital tv thing - wait until it proves itself to be better than it's predecessing format to the point that it's worth it.

At present, you're advised not to watch 3D TV for more than 30 minutes at a time, and not if you're pregnant, old or a child. Sounds like a real winner to me...

Couldn't have better put my stance on the matter there Swifty.

I think that it could work, but only in the near future. At the moment, it's a gigantic waste of money, with very little actually being developed specifically for use with the technology, and a lot just being converted to it (i.e. Alice in Wonderland, How to Train Your Dragon, Clash of the Titans etc.)

As it applies to video games though, I'm pretty much the same - wait until the technology develops further. The Avatar game did an interesting job at presenting depth of field, but of course, you only really got that if you were looking directly in the middle of the screen.

It's been done before, and fell out of fashion. People don't like wearing glasses to watch a movie basically. And it's been done in the game industry too (Sega Master system did it well from memory), and has been discontinued. I think it's just a passing fad as it was in the 80's.

We took my sister-in-law to see avatar My partner had to leave from Anxiety and the young one spewed popcorn all over the guest room later that night. Was the worst spill i've ever had to clean

I refused to accept 3D until it's holographic and no glases are needed

I find HD images to look better than the 3D ones because the glases make things a little blury and fuzzy

Yeah, you have no idea how many times I hear the same joke except with maths = mass. It's lost its impact on me, kinda like how autoerotic asphyxiation doesn't get me off anymore because I sure ran that packhorse into the ground :P

Anyways, I agree with Sim that the glasses are a big obstacle in that they are cumbersome and hamper picture quality. Plus it seems like they don't give a fuck about people who have to wear glasses already. I'm not putting on contacts just to watch the tv!

Not convinced with all this 3D rubbish.

Wasn't it not too long ago, when we were all rushed to get HD TV? It is the next big thing everyone said, it is the future and rahrahrah...

So, in my mind, this 3D shit is purely a way for all these companies to try make a quick buck on the consumers' gullibility. We've only had HD for a couple of years, and now they want to push 3D already? Bullcrap. It's just a rip off, off the sucess of recent 3D cinema, me thinks.
