Everything has been played, and these results are final. 1. Fallout: New Vegas - I was getting jittery leading up to the release, scared it wasn't going to live up to the hype i had for it in my head....it surpassed everything. Engine Glitches aside. It's the best game I've played all year. 1. Civilization V - Would've been my pick for No. 1 had New Vegas not dropped. They've managed to breathe new life into Civ while retaining the feeling of the last 20 years. 3. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood - Its just as good as Assassins Creed II, if not better. Have to say the storyline of II was slightly stronger than this one, but nonetheless it still felt worthwhile. It also provided a lot more interaction within 2012 as well which was good. Letting you leave the Animus at anytime was fantastic. Another point, I quite like how they've complimented the franchise with the Facebook game Project Legacy. Rather than just produce a casual Facebook game, they've created something that fits within the AC mythos, in that you're playing through memories of various people, some which appear in Brotherhood...and the fact that they've linked them so you can do something in one and it will affect the other is great. I'm liking where the franchise is heading....and I'd say Patrice had the entire storyline mapped out before he left. 4. Dead Rising 2 - 2 words....Combo Weapons. It was like Dead Rising on steroids, and just a ton of run to rage through thousands of zombies with some crazy ass weapon designs. Small touches like improved A.I and better handling made this a gem 5. Bayonetta - One of 3 Games dealing with the Biblical Apocalypse this year, and probably the best of the lot. It was a massively fun Japanese DmC-type game that I didn't know if I'd like or not....but yeah. Pleasant surprise of the year. 6. Just Cause 2 - or B-Grade Action Movie: The Game, this is game gets a high mention because of the sheer amount of content that is in it....400 sq miles of territory, 300+ Locations, thousands of destructible targets, over 100 cars...and no pesky story to get in the way. This game was just sheer fun to play. 7. NHL 11 - Im putting this in here due to the Physics Engine....just improved the game dramatically and had led NHL to keep its title as best sports game to date. 8. Darksiders - Comic book inspired fun that introduced colour to the Biblical Apocalypse. Unashamedly borrowed from a bunch of famous games, and integrated what it borrowed perfectly to provide a solid fun game. 9. Halo: Reach - Best campaign since Halo: CE, more multiplayer offerings that cater to every player type. Custom Firefight is a shit ton of fun. Bungie did pretty well with the story as well this time around, bit more emotion to it. 10. James Bond 007: Blood Stone - Its a solid game, it doesn't do anything new nor does it do what it does fantastically. But its fun, and makes feel like you're on one of Bonds many missions. Kind of like Roger Moore's early movies....a whole heap of fun and craziness. Solid effort, and I feel it deserves a mention...even though it was never going to be up the top of the list. At the moment, it's gotta be the following: *Super Street Fighter IV *Picross 3D *Alan Wake *Red Dead Redemption *Darksiders *God of War 3 All great stuff. I'd include things like Bayonetta or Just Cause, but I've yet to sample them properly. That being said though, the rest of the year is shaping up pretty strongly too. |

Dont understand how you can all list Just Cause 2. I felt the game was put together very shoddy and really didn't live up to expectations. **Edit - you didnt all list JC2 - It's just early and im tired from playing RDR for 100 hours straight. Edited by PandaTelf, May 24 2010, 12:54 PM.

JC2 had a story that was stupid and I only finished it for achievements, the voices were B-Grade Stereotypes....and that is what gave it its charm... But the reason I will list it up there is because it the funnest game I've played all year. 400 Square Miles of Terrain, 360 Locations, 6 to 7 Thousand things to blow up, a Grappling Hook/Parachute transport mechanic that made travelling so much fun. And just the fact from the get go you could go and do anything you wanted, anywhere on the map. Nothing was blocked off, nothing was out of bounds. Thats how open worlders should be. It was B-Grade Action Movie: The Game. And I loved it. |

Can I keep the Uum?

Yeah, I'm with Rougey on this one. JC2 was more a toybox than a game, and it was better for it. Oh, and GOTY so far? Bayonetta. |

Fair call and I agree with most of what you said. I do think it was fun and loved grappling/parachuting (hated how slow flying was) but i dont think that this makes it a GOTY competetor. I guess this is due to my perception of what GOTY should be. I think there are alot of fun games that I wouldnt put in the same room as GOTY. I feel its more about how well a game could be made, a GOTY for me should have you on the edge of your seat with seamless gameplay and graphics so realistic you believe you are there. GOTY so far for me are: Alan Wake - Only played for an hour so far but is intensely gripping and cant wait to play it again. RDR - I have few issues with MP Free Roam but other than that find the game fantastic. Heavy Rain - Loved the gameplay style. Mass Effect 2 - Great storyling/acting/gameplay. Bioshock 2 - One of the best single player experience, average MP. Cant wait to see COD, if they fix a few issues I had with MW2 could turn out to be a fantastic game. |

I think they sacked them... And for me, I can't wait for Casltevania: Lords of Shadow. If they can finally get a 3D Castlevania right, it will be my GOTY in my eyes. |
